Hi everyone.
I'm going through some crap with a winch distribution right now. Long story short, my synthetic line was damaged upon arrival so they sent me a replacement. However, the replacement was not the same line and hook that actually came with the winch.
The winch is the 10,500 pound recon wench. Synthetic line is somewhere around 17,500 pounds capacity.
The hook that is on the replacement line is probably half the size of the hook that came on the winch. The line itself is the same and some of the accessories are probably even better. But the hook itself is a 2 ton working load limit hook. It looks visually small and certainly doesn't seem big enough for Jeep recovery.
The minimum brake force is 8 tons. But I still think the WLL is important and the hook just seems too small.
Can someone let me know what size hook I should be looking for? I need to figure out what I'm going to do with this distributor and I'm just not sure if my concerns are not valid, but I'm pretty sure they are. Any advice?
