I have my rear locker installed and it all went pretty smooth. I took two days to get it done because I was doing it just before Christmas I had some trouble finding places open to get the carrier bearings. I also needed them pressed on the carrier. The backlash was .0055 on the old carrier and it was .0055 on the Detroit. I was very pleased when I saw that after all the work putting it in I had some concern that this was going to be off.

I did have to drill out the carrier to 1/2" for the ring bolts but that was easy. The teeth had a good pattern both coast and drive after everything was set back in.

Must give credit to "Tectah" because none of this would have been possible without his generosity of allowing me to put this on his layaway pay when you can PLAN. Great guy to do business with on the forum.

I don't recommend leaving the axle sitting on your seal after you pull it lose.

I pulled the sensor on the tone ring on one side then figured out I really didn't need to remove this.

Detroit on the top before I drilled the bolt holes for the ring gear.

I lubed the bearings before I set it in the axle.

Base dial indicator was my friend.

Torqued to specs and ready to roll.

Now it's locked and loaded!

Yeah, the 75 is a popular option. Many of us have them. Clean and efficient.
