Not so much work on the Rig, but made some progress on the shop. Time for some weekend wrench parties.

Well. I started getting the CEL light and P066d code last week. Engine going into apparent limp mode flat lining at 3000 rpm.
Did a cursory oil level check which looked ok and was resigned to a hefty bill from the stealership.
Thought I'd do an oil change just on the off chance, got the shock of my life. After sitting for a day , checked the dipstick again. Nothing.
Did a change. And only about 2 quarts came out. My filter (Purolator) was twisted and buckled.

I've maybe left it a little longer between oil changes this time, usually keep it under 3000 miles, maybe 5k this time. never noticed a big drop before. No noticeable leaking.

Anyone else had a sudden jump in oil consumption in a 3.6

I saw a certain ponytailed knobend on another site had an issue and thought maybe oil consumption upped when wheeling.

Oh yeah, the oil change did the job.

Getting the bike ready to sell(maybe) and new hood latches and HID bulbs for my projectors. After many years of service, the $20 daystars were about to wear out and one bulb went out. She's got 107k on her now and it'll be time for tires soon...I can't help but think they should be bigger than 37s...

Cleaned and regreased my hubs. (Then quickly cleaned the grease off the driveway before the wife noticed.)

Ripped off all of my old fenders (that the original owner cut up) in preparation to install my new PS fenders. So far got the fronts all lined up and fit correctly. Haven't gotten around to the rears yet. Currently trying to decide if I want to powder coat them clear, color match them to the jeep (Deep blue), or powder coat them black. Any thoughts? They're currently bare steel

I personally think a two tone (ie black #1 or clear #2) looks better with that year's blue. Clear is the easiest to touch up, IMO.

I was kind of leaning towards clear because my front and rear bumpers are bare aluminum so they would match nicely. Also Elliot at Champion powder coat will do all 4 flares for $150. Cant beat that price! I think if I eventually get to pulling off the bumpers Id get everything powdered black and then throw on the black steelies I have sitting in my garage. I think that would look pretty nice. Maybe Ill just hold out until I have time to pull the bumpers and go the black route. So many shades/tints of black to choose form though! GAH!

stopped into my DiscountTire one day last week to have the 2 year old BFGs flipped-out on the wheels as I just had begun to see slight rounding of the outside edges.
Measurement revealed only between 1/32s & 2/32s total tread wear since new (about 17500-20k miles). Tell me propervinflation +rotating all five tires/wheels every 3500miles isn't worth the effort ( doin it oneself @ oilchange time)

Honestly , I thought the white walls out would be way more obnoxious as I've never run white letters ...ever . But it isn't very loud, imho

I also slapped a set of GenRight Lock & Load tub tie down rails on to better hold down spare and compressor , tools, etc..

Hooked up a sub/amp with the Marcus/RiverCity Offroad writeup. Didn't want to do it too soon with little kids, but now they are 5 and 3 and they absolutely love it. Too bad my daughter loves Maroon 5 "Sugar" too much, now that's really all she wants to listen too. With a little Princess and the Frog soundtrack, which isn't bad has the nice New Orleans vibe. They definitely take after me with the music.

Got out and stretched the legs a little bit and took some measurements to take advantage of this no fender law. Started mocking up the rear deletes.
