hi
New to this forum
i had a similar problem where shifter was stuck in park due to a instrument cluster problem (which I am still having)
Just under shifter where the overdrive button is, there is a little plastic cover about 2mm x 10mm if you flick it out you can press a sensor to release shifter out of park. However if you have a moved any linkage you may have to put ot back in original position as sensor will not let you remove key if it thinks it is in drive.
Hope this helps

Instrument cluster

Have read a number of threads about instrument clusters lighting up, wind screen wiper working and cannot switch off, lights on, no indicators, radio coming on then off etc. we'll this has happened to me, and I've checked earths, fuses, removed m13 & j15. Removed battery, touched neg and pos leads together to discharge capacitors even fitted new battery. Now cluster is totally dead.
Been told by experienced auto electrician that it is the cluster and it needs replacing. If so problem I have is that jeep dealers in New Zealand have no idea and have told me that it takes two to three months to get a replacement.

Has anyone had similar problems and solved it?

If I need to get a instrument cluster is there anyone in the USA that I can contact to get one?

Tried googling replacement and come up with nill.

Any help will be appreciated.

Ok peeps...here is wat I found n did....I took out da center console to expose the shifter cables and everything else....found that the shifter cablgng to trans was loose n unclipped the cable...wen I clipped it back to its original position, I was able to remove key...wen taking out da center console you will c only one cable attached to the shifter....anyways wen I clipped the cable back I guess it tightened itself n heard the ignition switch click...n out came the key....so if anyone else has this problem, try this....it worked for me....thank you for all your inputs...
