Just put the hose clamp on mine...actually 2 for good measure - 1 on either side.

Now for the freaking leaking brake fluid from the (hopefully) clutch slave cylinder.

I have an exhaust clamp I can slap on there.

 

Just bend the shield out with a screwdriver

 

Or bend it in with a big rock. (mine was "fixed" in Clayton).

one quick weld at the ehaust shop...back to peace and quiet..well except the magnaflow and intake but i welcome those

 

Is the rattle present in both manual and autos? I have a rattle in 6th gear (sometimes 5th) when on the accelerator. If I let off of the accelerator it disappears. I checked the exhaust once without success, but I will check here again.

I have an auto and when Im at 40-60km/hr in 4th (auto) on accelerator , I get this sound too. I let off gas and it goes away. Is this the heat shield or something else??

 

Bad ass!!! I also have this rattle, but like most people I spend my money on "mods" and not maintenance. I'll fix mine this weekend!!

i just took the flowmaster off and put the stock muffler back on. first time i've heard the rattle.

True but it's nice to know what it is..my d rings exhaust and intake a familiar noices..I hated this one because every time I drove threw a parking lot it was supper load and people around me probably thought my rig was falling apart...very happy about this write up..sure I'm under my rig all the time but until this I always missed it

My rattle was the passenger side manifold heat shield.

 

Great write up, I developed the "rattle" about 2 weeks out of nowhere, and just like a patient that has a cold but thinks he may have cancer, I was wondering if it was my driveshafts, but after reading this write up, I went for a look under the Jeep and as sure as there's shit in a cat, there is was, the exact same weld!! So weld ... enjoy your noise for when I get home from work I will clamp your ass shut!!

I had a pretty good idea what it was, just no clue where it was. Figured I would look here to see if there was a usual suspect and whatdayaknow! All 3 welds were broken on mine, couple hose clamps and it's quiet as can be. Thanks guys.

Here's how I fixed my rattle, but I wouldn't recommend it. A little hard to tell in the pic, but the pipe is almost smashed flat lol.

 

is this in the back of the jeep???? im under the jeep now lol!!!

 

Ok so I went under my 2010 JKU all excited that I was FINALLY going to get rid of the rattle at about 5-7mph.... And this is what I saw....

... Straps where I was going to out the washer.... Help me find the rattle!!!!

Thanks for posting this. My Jeep started rattling this morning. I figured it was heat sheild because I've had them come loose in the past on other vehicles, however, when I climbed under my Jeep today all the heat sheilds were tight. The only clue where the rattle was coming from was a small thin metal band hanging around the exhaust. I had no clue what it was until I saw your pic. THANK YOU!

 

Looks like the factory already put on straps?
I'd bang around with a rubber mallet and see what makes noise.

I used some stainless steel zip ties on mine

 

Nice, I just fixed my rattle last week after searching where it come from for weeks!!
I jammed a piece of foil in there...

sure enough!!!! 2 welds broke,i simply pryed the shield up and away.FIXED!!!
