If you guys are in a budget, I just installed a new unit 7" screen 2 din, dvd, nav, mpe, cd etc from ebay at just under 300.00 bucks free shipping. I purchased and aftermarket harness for under 20 bucks. So i didnt have to splice my stock harness. Its from a power seller, so its warrantied and brand new in box

Many thanks for this thread.

After studying this thread and a couple of others I was able to successfully install a Kenwood 9980HD in my 2010 Wrangler Unlimited.

Did find removal of the metal bracket in the back of the recess to be a little perplexing. The bracket was much bigger than the cavity. Ended up using bolt cutters to cut it in half. After that the rest of the install went sweet.:bounce:

Yeah I have a kenwood touch screen with nav, dvd, ipod, sat radio, bluetooth and I love it. I like the pioneer as well, great write-up bro.

OK, my wife has the 2007 Sahara Unlimited w Infinity and seven speakers system. This summer, she left the top off in the rain and the factory head unit (6 CD changer MP#, etc) got messed up in that it wouldn't increase volume. So when it eventually got turned down to zero, we got no sound.
So she asked for and Santa provided the Oxygen O'Car head unit. When i installed with the Scosche CR04B harness (power from the driver cig), everything works except the sound (minor detail). After more detailed research, it seems i need the more expensive harness, such as a Scosche CR035R or Metra CHTO-03 or the PAC C2R-CHY2. Trouble is, i can't figure out which one and if the right one will drive all seven speakers.

Another guy told me that the Infinity amp was probably bad, but i doubt it since the head unit worked until turned down to zero, so it seems the HU is the problem. Also, the aftermarket HU has "a 4-channel, 55-watt amp that links to a vehicle’s factory or aftermarket speakers", so i could bypass the amp, but i don't really want to cut the factory wires from the amp and run new ones. It also has RCA "Pre-amplifier output(s): Front, rear & adjustable subwoofer", so if i tie those into the Metra CHTO-03's RCA cables, does that unit then route them through the Infinity amp?

So, does anyone know which is the right harness and can provide better guidance? Apologies for being such a noob...

BTW, I have no Nav or SWI requirements for the installation.

Update: I forgot to mention that i hooked up the blue power antenna wire form the HU to the blue (blue/white?) wire on the harness. I realize that the amp may not be getting the power it wants, but thought that would do the trick. This is a CAN bus system, i believe, FWIW.

Static/ Terrible Sound Output

I have a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited w/ the Premium Sound System. I just had a Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT installed, and the sound is terrible! I used to have it in my Expedition, and it sounded amazing. There is feedback and the volume doesnt get loud barely at all. When you turn up the volume it sounds awful. Could there be something wrong with the connections?
Thanks!! :th_pray:

I see this is a crazy old thread but I want to thank you guys for posting it up, I installed my Double Din Android this morning and with out seeing this I would have turned back at many points, thanks again
