I was wondering if anyone might be able to help figure this out. I have a 98 xj. That had a bad n,s,s, replaced that. Now It will start in park and neutral. The reverse lights work. Now it will shift out fine if it is in overdrive. But not in 3rd. Acts like it is trying to stay in 3rd. Then when I'm in low range. It will work in 1st. And reverse. Acts like it is in 3rd. In high range. It will shift fine in overdrive just like in 2wd. Any ideas, broken wire?

XJ shift problem

Are you getting any mil code. Look into shift solenoid "b" or kickdown cable adjustment. Start with the kickdown cable adjustment.
