from what I have read ... it does need a cellular subscription. If its through Uconnect it might blue tooth and use your internet connection from your phone. To bad 3g isn't prevalent here yet.
There are various options for doing this without going through the uconnect. But they do require a net/ cell card. Great for construction/ work sites.

if it uses bluetooth through UConnect to get internet through your phone, then why would you need the UConnect?

you could just skip that part and connect directly to your phone with the computer.

i can do it with my phone, it just costs an ass load of money with the phone company. i guess that wouldn't allow EVERY passenger in the vehicle to use their own laptops though....which i see a lot of nowadays....

Not if you buy the unlimited ATT media package. Connect by bluetooth and surf away.. If they ask why you use so many MB's, just say your addicted to jeep porn!:grinpimp:

You guys are all missing the point here, when I'm in the Jeep it's because I want to get AWAY from the internet. Far, far, away.
+1 on that. No one needs a computer in this Jeep.

X3...I can't even drive down the road without seeing some asshat sending textmessages while driving. If you have to be that connected to the internet, then how is wheeling and being outdoors even considered fun anymore? :shaking:

This is what i use on camping trips. its a Verizon card in a dlink router. so far its has worked everywhere i have gone.

plus it helps keep the kids quiet on long road trips they just sit there tapping away at their laptops.
