You will find a LOT more 35-inch tire choices if you move down to 17X8.5 wheels.

I think the thinnest hub centric wheel spacer that you can get is 1.25". I ran the 1.25" spacers at first with 35 MTRs on these wheels too but I had a lot more back spacing to start with than you apparently do.

back spacing on my stock rims is more like 6.25", which is why I run the 1.75" spacers now with 37s. I'm right where I want to be now at 4.5" bs.

with the 1.25" spacers, that would put you at ~3.64" bs, which might be a bit much, depending on who you ask and your axle tubes.

I guess I'm more concerned on the 4.89" of backspacing on the 17x8 rim

4.5" is usually recommended. You could probably get away with the 4.89. You might have to put a few washers on your steering stops.

There are tons of wheel choices , what wheels are you looking at? I would try and find a 4.5" bs wheel

for reference, with 35" MTRs and 4.75" backspacing, I rubbed slightly on the LCAs and frame rails at full flex and aired down on the trail. No issues for daily driving. no adjustments made to steering stops.

I'm running Rockstar 2's with 285/70-17 Nitto's. I believe the backspacing on mine is 4.5" but it could be 4.75". I have no rubbing issues at all even when it's full lock and flexing off road. I've made no modifications to the steering stops or bump stops, I am running a 2" spacer up front and 1/2" rear. You will have no trouble with the stock tires.
