1977 Mercury Comet w/302. Bought at auction in 1983 for $300. Came with 1 broken motor mount, rusted out floor boards, no radio, and 4 different tires.
Fixed the mount and the radiator damaged by the fan when I put my foot on the skinny, added a hot 8 track/cassette player, swapped a 10-speed for 2 tires that were the same and had tread ..the floor holes were for dropping empties.
Spent a year thinking it was super cool.

HA, I had a 73. What a great little car.
Mine was great for my mechanic. Not so much for me. Fun when it ran and I wish I knew as much about cars as I do today. My Boxster GTS is a much different story in terms of a mid engine sports car.

My mom, sister, cousin and aunt all had 914s, seemed like everybody had them in the mid/late 80s. I was lucky as my dad was a mechanic/service manager for IH so I was learning how to work on cars before I was 10. By the time I was 16 I could take the motor/transaxle out of a 914 in about a 1/2 hour. We built many cars along the years, sure do miss that old dude sometimes.

I know what you mean about the Boxster, wife had one for a few years. The damn thing could read your mind.

1975 Datsun B210 "baby puke" brown.

My dad gave me a choice of the 1965 Cadillac Coup de Ville in the driveway that had been sitting for 5 years or this Datsun sitting behind his service station. I chose the Datsun purely for the economics.

I hope I've made better decisions since then. :ROFLMAO:

Side note... never got the car registered in my name as the original owner was a Sac PD who got caught up in a South Sac Prostitution Ring.

My buddy, Rico Landucci, had one with the louvers on the rear window. It was a fun car, they don't roll very well.
Tru that! The steering box was horrible. My dream is to get another and do a ground up restoration, tubular frame, independent suspension, etc. They are badass looking cars. Some day!

My Very First Car was a JEEP 1956 M38A1, I bought for $700 back in 1964. It still had the Military markings and the big lug Military tires. I ran the F-Head 4 banger for three Years then installed a 289 Ford V8 and a WARN overdrive. It had stock 5.38 gears, It was awesome and this broke post-Vietnam Vet. sold the JEEP so I could afford to go to College in 1972......thru 1978, I was a damn fool to sell it. But the $3000.oo I got for it sure helped get me through the University of Idaho. MS. in Wildlife and a career as an Idaho Game Warden. Retired now and drive a 2008 JK Wrangler with lots of mods.....but sure do miss that 289 Ford Engine!!!! and the WARN OVERDRIVE.
