Hi Guy's I will be looking to re-gear my axles in the not to distance futher, I did get my JK with 4.10 ratio's factory fitted, so it will be okay for a start. But when I fit the lockers I will want to change to a lower ratio. My JK is a 6 speed maual and I am going to be runnig 33" tires (yes I know they are small but over here in England we have a lot o height restrictions). On the TJ Wrangler they came with 3.07 as stock and normally I would fit 4.56's to run 33", but as the JK comes with a lower ratio in the first place do I go with 4.88's or 5.10's or will 4.56's be okay?

Any input would be great.

I am running 35's with an automatic. I regeared to 4.88's and am happy with the overall performance, both on and off road.

If you want to stay as close to stock as possible keep the 4.10s. If you want to under gear a little bit to give yourself a bit more power up hills etc. go with the 4.56s. If it was me I'd go with the 4.88s just to really get some more acceleration off the line and a lower crawl ratio. A good friend of mine drove a TJ on 32/33s that had 4.88s in it and I thought it performed very well on and off the road. If you are worried about fuel economy though I think 4.56s is where I'd stop. 5.13s in my opinion are much too low for 32-33" tires. Good luck! I am sure whichever you choose will work out just fine.

I have 33" with a auto and 4 10's and not one problem on or off the road!

35's, manual and went with 5.13's very happy with the overall performance (gas mileage, crawl ratio and the ability to goto 36/37's when I want)

Given that you are staying with a close to stock tire size, and that you have a manual transmission, you can get away without regearing if you want. You will lose a bit of crawl ratio, and you may end up running a lower gear on the highway, but it's doable. My YJ with 3.07's and 33's might as well not have 5th gear, as it cannot pull it, so I drve it in 4th and it's fine. Now I am swapping 4.56's at some point to get some crawl ratio back, but it's not absolutely necessary.

The automatics seem to be much more necessary to regear, because they will hunt, not being smart enough to run full time in a lower gear.

I am running 37's with 4.88's and a 6 speed. It works pretty good.

At the present time I've got 5:13's with 35"tires auto trans, A friend has 4:56's with 33"tires with a 6 speed who swears about a perfect match, I was told not to exceed 4:88's because of an over reving issue, but @ 70 MPH @ 2500 RPM's that's not an issue, plus if I want to size up to 37's some day I won't have to re-gear anything, DO the math, some times bigger can be the way to go.:jeep2:

Thanks for that I was planning on going with 4.56 ratio, as I will be sticking with 33's but for now the 4.10's will do till I get around to fitting the lockers.
