it's been fun!

The JK is going back to Chrysler and I'm 99% sure I'm not replacing it. It would cost me more than a want to pay to get the same JK due to the MSRP on my 07 and the MSRP of those on the lots right now. Under lemon law everything goes by MSRP in a replacement. I'm going to do a repurchase. I should end up with a couple grand in hand at the end of it. I may try to work deal with another dealer, we'll see.

I'm also looking at an FJ Cruiser. Still not sold on it either. I'm getting a killer deal on it too, almost 10K off MSRP on a new 08.

What ever happens, I'll be in a 4WD something and hope to meet up with you guys from time to time....damn sure on the trail somewhere.

I've got a few things in the for sale section if your interested...

I wish i was in your position to look for a new car/jeep/truck. There are some great deals out there right now

I was at the dealership yesterday (Orlando dodge/jeep) and they had a 2008 demo SRT Cherokee advertised for $32K. The sticker prices was over $48K. If i was in the market, i would be looking at that or see what kinda of deal i could get on a new Ram or Rubicon.

Keep us posted on what you get.
Jester...I've had tj's...my plan is to start searching and find one for a toy. They are a dime a dozen in the 4-5K range. I need better access to the back row seats on a daily driver.

SDMF - what's wrong with a FJ? I get a factory rear locker for a lot less than a Rubicon costs.

Grant-EXACTLY, I found a Trailblazer 3SS AWD (used to be a die hard chevy guy) for under 28K..that's a 40K vehicle too. I'm using this opportunity to shop the market a little. That and I'm really upset at the quality of the wranglers.

You guys would still wheel with an FJ wouldn't you?
I wheel with a guy with an FJ every now and then and it does surprisingly well... his only issue is that there is a lot of sheetmetal sticking out and it seems like he's in the body shop every few months! His has been pretty reliable for him too.
Hate to see the jeep go. Would like to wish you well on what ever you decide to purchase. My wife has an FJ. It does have its good qualitys, but I would take a jeep over it any day. Good luck.
Id wheel WITH an FJ - of course. I just woudnt WHEEL an FJ.

I like the power they have but every FJ owner I've talked to has the same complaints: They feel like a cave after driving a Jeep - have to open front doors to get in back - and what someone up there ^ said: bodyshop will become your friend if you wheel it anywhere near trees. Heard both those complaints consistently enough that I dont want one.

All that said, I wheeled with one in OCALA and it seemed like a very capable vehicle. Until I discovered the JK unlimited, I was had thought about buying one.

GET A JEEP.

x2.....u will regret not having a vehicle u can take the top down and doors off.

The doors won't bother me too much...I have a 4 year old and I don't have a place to store 4 doors safely...the top will take a little while to get over!!
I would look for an 05- 06 TJ Unlimited (LJ) Rubicon....Maybe even a Toyota Tacoma 05- 08. I guess the big difference between the Jeep and other vehicles, is going to be the solid axle vs IFS...and the Jeeps ability to have the top and doors off.

...And you won't be allowed to wave to us anymore. :D

Good luck no matter what you do. Hope you will find a reliable vehicle that you will enjoy for a good price. :)
I saw an FJ stuck on a fire road here.:smokin:

My brother has a good line on one...I'm not sold on the FJ yet.

I'd like a truck...but an SUV type vehicle fits the family better.
Just keep in mind that a Toyota Tacoma 4 door will be much more family friendly than the 05-06 Jeep Unlimited 2 door. I loved my TRD 4 door Tacoma. Small enough to park and handle well- but you could comfortably get the family in and out. Very comfortable truck for the size. Pretty convenient to have the extra bed space as well. JMO

I had an 01 TJ when my son was an infant...it was a pain! That's why I have 4 doors now.

The only real problem I have with a truck is that we travel to WV from FL at least twice a year and to Bristol, TN twice a year. We bring our Boxer with us, he wouldn't have much room in a truck. SUV he gets the back.
I almost bought the FJ before I got this Jeep. I liked the availability of aftermarket parts for the Jeep over anything else. I liked the reliability of the Toyota brand. But since $ wasn't the object, I went with the Jeep.

BTW, stick around the board, at least the Florida section so you can meet up and wheel.

Good luck on your decision.
GET A JEEP.
At least you're consistent with your response.:beer:
