Well, I did it. I traded in my pickup truck Friday night for a 2007 Jeep Wrangler*. The color is called Steel Blue (does that mean I have to name it Zoolander?!). It's a 2-door manual transmission with air-conditioning, power windows, and a black soft top.

Luckily the weather cooperated this weekend and Saturday afternoon, the top came down. I had heard some horror stories about taking the top down for the first few times but between RTFM and some tips the sales guy gave me, I had the top down in 12 minutes including the time it took to bring the windows inside and lovingly lay them on soft towels.

It doesn't have the power my truck (V8) had but it's 3.8L V6 is very responsive. I'm still learning the tranny's sweet spot. The lower gears are very short, I'm assuming to facilitate rock crawling and mudding.

Next to my motorcycle, this vehicle is more fun</a> to drive than any other I've ever driven. Cruising around town with the top down and the sun shining is just about the coolest thing ever! And yes, I've already had half a dozen "Jeep waves".

My new obsession.
