Is it just me or does the B-pillar stick out an awful long way. I smacked mine on a rock wall in Harlan, KY last weekend and put a nice sized "golf" ball dent it it. On my TJ all I had to worry about was the windsheild frame... now there's this stupid thing that sticks out further than the windsheild frame.

Anyone had this repaired, it is an easy repair or tough one? It's right at eye level so it bothers me as I'm a particular guy.

I've damaged my passenger side b-pillar twice. First time was in Moab last year when I flopped over a little, second time was a couple of weeks ago. In both instances a little bashing and some Bondo made it like new.

Good to know, that looks like mine only mine is about a foot and a half higher on the pillar... oh and my dent is a little "smoother" if that makes any sense.

Doesn't look like the rocks are quite as hard out east as they are for you guys!

It looks like all I need is a little clear as it didn't go all the way through the paint and a small "shove" from the inside of the pillar... but I'm not a body man so who knows if that's even possible.

The b-pillar is boxed so that may be difficult. Depending on the extent of the damage a dolly may get it back to shape or a slide hammer. If you don't want to do it yourself just take it to a few good body shops and get some quotes, it shouldn't cost much to do.

Phil -

Just curious what did you use to repaint? Did you buy a spray rig or the duplicolor in a spray can or............

It looks good. You can't even tell we were beating on it with a sledge hammer to make he doors fit.:D

Duplicolor. I actually ordered a couple of tins of paint from the dealer last year for the first bit of touch up work, but the color didn't match very well, so I picked up some Duplicolor Chrysler Bright Red and it is a perfect match.

I sprayed the complete b-pillar as it was scratched up a bit. The finish doesn't come out perfect, but with some 1500 then 2000 grit paper it polishes up real smooth.

If you know it's been filled you can tell, otherwise you would not know.

I actually beat on it quite a bit more to get it back to shape before filling it. I also replaced the upper hinge as it was trashed.

Dang Phil. Hummer to the rescue? Is this escalator? Looks like a great time. And a nice repair job. I think I've seen somewhere that someone make an armor piece for the B-pillar? Who?

Yup, funny thing is that he pretty much did the exact same thing a few minutes later.

Is this escalator?
Yup, I didn't wait for a spotter and was doing fine, but Iroks have crappy sidewall traction and I slipped. I'd done it before without a spotter and it was easy, guess I just got lucky the first time :D

Almost totaled you too :(
Thread hijack in place ;)

It was a bit of a close one

For those that have no idea what Phil and I are talking about. This pic is from tip over challenge on Hell’s Revenge in Moab. Look at the H1’s front driver tire and the rear passenger tire that just slid off the ledge. It may not look like it but hat H1 is starting to roll over.

Look at the picture again and the reflections on the passenger windows. I’m on the left taking the pic and Ipe (from this forum) wife is on the right… That H1 was literally 3 or 4 seconds away from landing on us after rolling 2 full revolutions down the rock. It landed exactly where we were and had I not been paying attention and sensed what was about to happen we would have been history.

Kinda scary

That sucks, lot of money in an H1 rolling over. :shaking:
The guy had about 7 at the time. Actually I don’t think it was insured (trailered from Florida).

It had way too much lift for Moab, something like a combined 20 inches with the suspension and body lift (those are 44s). Combine top heavy hummer and a guy with a lead right foot and thing go boom.

Patience grasshopper :thefinger:
Not my strong suit! :thefinger:

Great photos though. Hope everyone was OK, and that insurance took care of the owner. I can see the wifee in the window, and we should be seeing her back side leaving in a hurry, but those things always happen in sloooooooow moooootion.

Brought this July 08' thread back didn't we, uh, with a little twist.
