I've heard that the "Unichip" is availble now as a "Plug & "Play". I really haven't read any great test on that one yet. I think most are waitiing for the "Superchip" which is supossed to have all the goodie's and much better. I'm actually keeping my eye open something also, it needs it.....mostly shift point change.
Well, I have a small camper and it weighs into be 3,000 lbs. I have no problem pulling it without a "chip", and I have the automatic too.

And, what rear axel do you have? I have the D44, and no problem with it.
At SEMA hypertech has power programer for about +15 hp and it will correct the speedo. I think it will be around $350, They also have one that only corrects the speedo.
I pull my Bass boat all the time and up to 150 miles from home and I have no chip or computer yet! And it tows fine on the highway.

X2... The HyperTech is gonna be the way to go I think. We are supposed to get some of the beta versions here pretty soon.
It would be awesome if SCT would release a product for it. I personally can't stand the way most "tuner's" give you a can tuned wiht no adjustability whatsoever. Obviously it's better than nothing, but I want more options from a tuner than simple, "What Octane?"
Well hopefully they make an upgrade available to all of use that bought the Accu Pro module to recalibrate our speedos. There documentation states it's upgradable for future options.
I will have my HyperTech tomorrow I got it from 4 wheel parts.. I can't wait...

Great, I can't wait for a JK'er to give an honest Ya or Na on this tuner.
Semper Fi,...
Just got off the line with Hypertech. The programmer they are using for the JK is the same one they use in 5 other Dodge/Jeep applications. There is however no JK program for it yet. They said it won't be out till after the 1st of the year.
4 wheel parts lied to me.. I will have it after X-mas:pissed:
So Now I will just have to wait..
don't do the chip in my opinion

Don't do the aftermarket chip thing for more power. These power chips fake out the ecu and do not allow for the ecu to properly protect your engine. For example a true calibration from Jeep protects your engine from damaging knock if you are towing or not or in the mountians or not. These chip guy's might make some better numbers but they do not know all the maps in the ECU. Plus they do not know how the ECU deals with piston temperature protection, if you fake out the system all bets are off. I like the reliability of the factory systems and don't want to get stranded for a maybe couple of HP that only applies for that day they ran on the chassis dyno. In fact I don't even believe the couple of HP as I have never seen correction factors being used when numbers are publised.

Thx

I would say you are wrong or misinformed on most of your post.

Knock: this is not controlled by mapping, it is controlled by knock sensors and ignition retardation. It is a variable that can not be mapped as it changes with fuel/load/elevation.

"faking" the system: no programer I know of "fakes" anything. I would like to know what you mean.

piston temp protection: huh? what are you talking about?

The factory chip is set for fuel economy more important than power.
Most of the programers give a more aggressive fuel curve or timing curve but these this are controlled by a few factors that the chip can not change.

The engine will want to run stoich no matter what the new curves.
The engine will retard the timing with knock.

I HIGHLY doubt a non-race tuner is going to program their chips to ignore these 2 things.

Thought this might be of some interest. http://jeepfan.com/tech/OKDynoTest.php
another JK owner with a Sahara is running an AEM intake and a Jet Stage 1 chip. He has not dyno'd the JK, but he says that there was an improvement in performance. He lives in PA in the hills.

I am considering it myself, but I just dont have the dough.

I periodically haul a 6.5x15ft trailer with a large expanded steel ramp. its like dragging a boat anchor.... and that's empty. :D

Jet chip

I installed a KN drop-in filter with a Gibson exhaust sometime ago. I just added the JET CHIP Stage 1 last week, my JK does seem to have more power on the lower end.
