OK guys, we are working on the final design of our swingout tire carrier. So far we have adjustable tire mount to accomodate varying backspaced wheels. Also have capability of carrying a 37" tire. Those are the givens, what else do you want? Have room for a highlift mount OR a 5 gallon jerry can. Thinking about a "safarai" or "jamboree" type rack - yes/no?

The bumper (with 14 mountng points) is stout enough to take it.

Give me some ideas, my brain hurts...

The Hi-Lift mount would be good. How about a CB antenna mount?

Sorry I was tired last night should have made mention of the features of the bumper first.

- Integrated backup lights
- Fits around factory tow option
- 14 mounting points
- 2 frame mounted clevis mounts (part of the mounting system)
- accepts a 35" tire on the stock factory tailgate mounted carrier
- accepts a 37" tire on the optional swingout carrier (what I am working on)
- swing out carrier is a bolt-on accessory, only the hinge pin reciever is welded into the bumper.

This is what we have so far:

We have space on the right side of the tire, more to come later. Back to work

Looks pretty darn good so far. What about a slightly shorter versioon that would work well with tube fenders?

For what it's worth, here's a wish list from another thread:
-License Plate location
-Integrated lights
-Electrical connection
-Integrated 2x2 receiver
-Trailer quick links
-Spare tire guard (so you don't rip the tire off comming off an obstacle)
-Antenna mounts
-gear rack
-Jerry can holders
-Hi-lift mount

I'd think about doing the hinge in double shear instead of single shear. There has been several threads about these shearing off with smaller tires on them then 37". It wouldn't be hard to bolt on a "Z" shaped plate that bolts between the top nut on the spindle and then runs down and bolts on the bumper.

Just a thought.

We have a set of Xenon flares at the shop and noticed this bumper will be a bit long. We have an idea for a shorty style bumper, just need to finish one project at a time...

Here I am ...

from the JK mod thread, quoting Ruskin above:

-License Plate location (to get it away from the edge)
-Integrated lights (done)
-Electrical connection (unless stock is retained)
-Integrated 2x2 receiver (uses stock)
-Trailer quick links (stock?)
-Spare tire guard (so you don't rip the tire off coming off an obstacle)
-Antenna mounts
-gear rack
-Jerry can holders
-Hi-lift mount
-3rd brake light mount
-and how about a small tool box built into the bumper itself?
