When I shift from 4H to 4L, I hit a "stop" as I believe is correct. In other words, just pull straight back and the lever hits the stop once I'm in 4H. To get to 4L, move the lever to the right (to get by the "stop") and pull back. All works well.

The question I have is whether there is supposed to be a stop when shifting from 4L back to 4H. From the shift pattern on the knob, it looks like I should just be able to push straight forward and would hit a "stop" when I was in 4H. Instead, if I push straight forward the lever will go all the way to 2H. This makes it difficult to differentiate between neutral and 4H. Can someone tell me whether they hit a stop in the 4L to 4H shift?

Dumb question, I know, but if there is supposed to be a stop it would make for much quicker and easier shifts and perhaps mine just needs adjusted.

Thanks!

When you push it forward it should stop and that would be neutral. Then shift to the left and that is 4H. It is harder to hit going back into 4H from 4L than it is from 2H. Hope this helps
That is the way I would think it would work. However, if I'm in4L and just push straight forward on the shift lever, it will easily push all the way up to 2H, even if I keep a little pressure on the lever towards the right. I generally try to "push through neutral" so it makes it very difficult to stop at the right place - sometimes I hit 4H, sometimes 2H.
