I am new to the forum, I figure if I took the time to read all the post I could probably find the answer. I own a 2013 unlimited sport. I bought it lifted with 35/12.50R20 AMP MTs. The tire looks great but rides like hell. I have tried to balance them twice but no luck. I would like to keep the MT look but would love a better ride. I have looked at the toyo MTs and the nitto trail grappler. Any other suggestions?

You know for a fact that it is the tires themselves? It isn't high psi? Or the coils? Or the shocks? Or the alignment specs? Or?

What do you mean by 'it rides like hell' ...

I have a set of Cooper STTs for offroad and a set of Cooper ST MAXX for everyday driving. So far I am really impressed with the ST MAXX. Only been about 8k miles, but Im happy.

I've put around 1000 miles on a set of 35" Goodyear MTR's and have zero complaints. Surprisingly quiet at highway speeds.

i had procomp mt2 315/70R17 and was very happy with them. they wore very well and were relatively quiet on the road. i bought them premounted and balanced in a quadratec package deal.

i recently switched to mastercraft courser mxt 37's. i've got a couple thousand miles on them and they seem to be even quieter than the procomps. i mounted and balanced the mastercraft tires myself with airsoft pellets on beadlock wheels.

I'm pretty confident that it is the tires. They had to use a ton of weights to get them some what balanced. It has a lot vibration at hwy speeds. I have tried running at different PSIs. I wouldn't think it was the shocks/coils/alignment, the lift only has about 10k miles. I did get it aligned a couple of weeks ago. I also put a dual steering stabilizer on at it helped with the dreaded death wobble

MT's won't provide a better ride quality. If you want a set of tires that are street friendly and can perform well off the rod, consider AT's instead.

Mickey Thompson ATZ P3s would be a good tire to look at. They're the most aggressive AT I've seen. I've run MTZs in 315/70R17 (34.5"x12.5) for 20k with no issues.

IMHO, Nitto Trail Grapplers, Goodyear MTR/Ks and a few others are plenty quiet . . . for a mud tire.
I've got Nitto TGs in 35x12.50R17 right now - smooth and "quiet" (for a mudder).
They're heavy but they're round (unlike the MTR/Ks I had before), they balance well, & they're damn-near bulletproof.

However,

. . . 35/12.50R20 AMP MTs. The tire looks great but rides like hell. Any other suggestions?
I suggest shit-canning the pimptastic 20s and putting your new 35s on a set of 17" rims.
Hell, the pimpmobile rims may fetch enough coin to buy your new tires + rims :dunno:

Steering stabilizers take death wobble out of Jeeps like Febreeze takes dog shit out of rugs.

Unless you've checked all of the DW contributors on your chassis, don't assume the tires will perform any magic unfawkification of your ride.

I second that on the dual steering stabilizer. If you need either one of them you have a problem somewhere. But back to the tires, you could add a pack of balance beads and see if that helps. But I'd sell me and get 17's too.

I'm with this guy...Cooper makes great tires. I have the STT's for my DD and never had a problem with them. 15k on them so far

And the beauty of 17's is that both the tires and wheels are far less expensive.
I had Toyo R/T's. I thought they were quiet, exceptionally durable, and rode great. There are other tires that achieve the same results. Unfortunately, often if you scratch your head and say, "I've never heard of that tire" you are probably going to run into problems with all the associated issues that are possible to have.

@lowender, don't get them it you plan on doing any serious rock crawling or muddling at all. They are good on the road, really good. But that is it. I have had mine on for a year and a half now and have finally had enough. I'm just waiting for a Memorial Day sale to snag a new set of tires.

Dick Cepak FunCountry is a good tire for street and trail that is ,IMHO, a great looking tire -just aggressive enough- but is not crazy street slappingly loud ...my wife has 'em on our XJ & she loves them as a DD she doesn't have to be careful with....

I have been waiting to hear more about the Dick Cepek Extreme Country. I like the looks however it is hard to ignore the sure thing with the Toyo MT and the Cooper STT Pro. Tires get expensive!
