I'm currently waiting on one of those cargo area tire carriers from HCP4x4. They had a little hiccup in production so they don't have them on hand, at least as of about 2 weeks ago when I spoke with them.

I made mine.
Took a 2" reciever hitch and sandwiched it with another plate dead middle of the cargo area against the back of the seats. Then I made a L shaped mount out of 2" steel that plugs into it with a angled plate for the rim. The rim is bolted to it and then a ratchet strap keeps it from lateral movement.

Takes up less space and cost me like $50, that and I can pull the entire thing just leaving the reciever in under a min leaving a free cargo area.

If your inerested I can post pics tomorow.

Doc, you are great at coming up with custom stuff. Post the pics, someone will want to know how it looks.

I really like that one posted above, but mine isn't a 4-door. Has anyone done something similar with a 2-door JK? At the moment, I just took my back seat out and the spare is just laying there.

$16 2" receiver from harbor fright, some medium wall 2" tube and some 1/8" plate underneath that sandwiches the floor. The "holder" has 6" "outriggers" on ither side to keep it from wobbling. If I did it again I would:
add 2 more bolts to the plate to wheel
extend out the "outrigger" plate to 1' on each side
weld some nuts or thread the ends to allow a bolt/knob on each outrigger end to be able to "preload" the mount and get rid of wobbles/squeeks

or I would just add a couple footman loops and latches that would do the same.

But right now it works great so no need to "fix" it

Argh, No. While I was at the HCP Open House I talked to Nemesis and it sounds like the design will be passed onto them to produce. The plus side is they make some cool shit, the down side is they have a full schedule and told me that it would not be until end of summer before they got started on the cargo tire carrier. I'll check in with Nemesis in a couple weeks for an update.

Waiting sucks :bawling:
