Was trying to cinch down the knockoff brand light bar in the brackets. Went a bit too far and stripped it. Can the threads in the mounting he's be tapped or otherwise repaired? If so, suggestions? Thanks all.

I think it's worth a try to re-tap them. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Make sure the new bolt is shorter than the depth of the hole. Worst case scenario is that you still have problems and have to send it back. Hell, email them and see if they will replace it, good chance to see what warranty will be like to deal with if you ever have real problems with the light.

If nothing else, you could heli-coil it. Used to use those in magnesium chainsaw crankcases to repair stripped cylinder bolts.

x2 on the heli-coil or drop in a nutsert.
