Hey everyone,

So I just moved up here to Seattle from Dallas. I've been hearing on the news about chains and winter tires since it's starting to snow in the passes. Do you guys recommend chains, and how often do you use them? Also at what point do you put them on, for example at 3"+? Would I need chains for all 4 or can I start off with 2 if I need them?

Welcome to Seattle! I'm sure the gurus will post up with great advice....for myself, I plan on getting a set pretty quick. Had a snow run last weekend and was slipping and sliding quite a bit. I heard it depends on how deep the snow is, if it's drifting and you can crunch down a path then you are fine, but if it's icy or compacted it's a little treacherous. I've been told you can run a pair on the rear, but I'm buying all four.

I was looking here, I plan on snow wheeling a lot with my chains so I want something heavy duty. Still need to hit up David at northridge and ask him where to go.... I'll let you know

I get my "big tire" chains from Les Schwabs. Nice hd ones and cut them for a perfect fit.
