Anybody have a supercharger on the 3.8L with over a 100k on the clock? Trying to determine if a Hemi swap would be better for the Jeep as mine just rolled 101,000.

I really like the way the new Magnusen supercharger kit looks and performs though.

I would definitely do it. I hear these motors aren't that great at lasting. If you are like me you have a wife trying to reign in the modification costs. S if I were you and you have to share money so to speak, I would go ahead with the supercharger. Because if the engine blows up you will have to get another one regardless. If the engine shits the bed before a mod, having to purchase a new engine may prevent you from getting a supercharger. I like the Magnuson as well. Go for it.
That seem counter intuitive... :cwm13: If the engine isn't going to last long, adding forced induction and increasing stress on the motor will only accelerate its untimely demise. This makes me lean towards getting a new motor, might as well just make it a Hemi then.

You can probably swap a 5.3 for cheaper than a hemi...especially if Motech releases the bare bones kit he mentioned a while ago.

Are you planning on doing the swap yourself? If you are doing all the labor, then a swap can be done around 10K but if you are going to pay someone then the difference in cost between swapping and supercharging are ALOT bigger...
I have done enough engine swaps and tranny rebuilds to be undaunted by this. The wrench twister in me hopes I can convince the misses to go the Hemi route... Although more money into the Hemi swap means less for other goodies...

Thats what I needed to see! Thanks!

Last time I looked Jeep Speep Shop was doing them for $3500 kit, $3500 motor and trans(5.7 truck motor), $3500 labor. Street legal turn key if I remember right.
The JSS kit for $3500 does not include the radiator or exhaust components. Add those 2 in plus a computer core charge and you are over $5k. The AEV kit seems much more complete.

I just finished a Jss swap. If you want details let me know but it cost me closer to 15k doing the install myself. I paid around 6k for a very low mileage engine/trans and around 6300 for kit with exhaust/radiator and the rest little items you will need.

I would do it again in a heartbeat, went together great and doesn't overheat. Just plan ahead and have ALL the parts before you start or you will be waiting on things.

Yes, details please! What year truck/trans? 5.7? VVT? What else do you need that the JSS kit doesn't come with? Not hating on your setup, but this seems like another nod towards the AEV kit.
