Steering Wheel Clicking and Crunching (Steering Wheel Pepper Grinder)

Ok, I didn't get much response from the "Modified.." thread so I thought I'd try here..

Out of the blue, something broke in my steering wheel. I'm guessing it's the clockspring, but I'm not sure.. I can see a plastic piece moving freely, looking in the space between the steering wheel and the column.. Basically, my steering wheel has become a big pepper grinder, but I think instead of pepper, it's grinding the clockspring...

Other symptoms - steering is "stiffer" but I think it's cuz of the crap my steering wheel is grinding.. Airbag light is on. No cruise control. Horn and turn signals work.

I took a quick video of it (to capture the sound). Sorry, it was dark here at 5:30am.. The only sounds you hear are the steering wheel and my jacket..

My horn works fine. That's why I was a bit confused - I thought that was pretty much a guaranteed symptom of a bad clockspring. Apparently it is not.. I think I can actually see the clockspring housing move around in my steering column so it's most likely a clockspring issue (I'm just not 100% positive that the plastic piece I see in there is part of the clocksping housing or something else). I didn't think you could actually "feel" the clockspring affect (I thought it was just electrical). I guess it can be both.

Yeah, it should be covered under warranty.. It's a 2009 with about 30k miles. They restricted my powertrain warranty, but this should be covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. Here's some (crappy) pics..

In the first pic, you can see the plastic standoff and the wires behind it. That plastic standoff (and the whole plastic piece there) doesn't move 1:1 with the wheel - it's loose...

Here is the other little plastic piece (the one at the top in your pic).
