hey guys new to the forum... have a quick couple of questions. I am putting rubicon unlimited springs and shocks on my stock x and needed to know how to put them on. Is it as easy as it looks? How do I get the springs off? anything helps... thanks in advance.

The front will be the most difficult.

Jack up the front of the vehicle and put jack stands under the frame so the axle hangs.

You will need to remove sway bar links and lower shock bolts. That may give you enough to swap the coils. If not remove trak bar and that shouldbe plenty. Worst case you would need to remove the diveshaft at one end.

The rear is very easy. Jack it up and put stads under the frame in the rear so the axle hangs. Remove lower shock bolts and swaybar links. That should be enough. If not, remove the trackbar and that will be enough to swap them out.

Your jack stans may not be tall enough to let your axle droop far enough so you will probably have to remove your tires as well.

If the front lifts enough to throw your steering wheel off center, you can simply loosen the adjustmet sleeve on the draglink and rotate it untill the wheel is centeredagain

...Even if your X was new, you should see at least 1/2" improvement in stance, and in ride quality as well.

That said, spring swaps are easy. Disconnect your sway bar links on the axle end. Disconnect (and remove) your shocks. Lift the Jeep one corner at a time to full flex--I like to put the floor jack under the frame right behind the control arm mount. The fronts are easy to get in and out. The back can hang by the brake lines, so I usually disconnect the bracket that holds those to the outside of the frame, right behind the rear tire. Watch your abs wires to the rear brakes--don't extend up so far that those stretch.

Happy trails!

You shouldn't have to unbolt the track bar. Just unbolt the shocks and the sway bar links and the axle will droop far enough to pull the spring and reinstall the new ones.

I just put a lift on this weekend and found that removing the lower shock bolt first on the front makes removing the shock much easier. After loosening the top nut, you can remove it by hand. Much easier.

On the rear, be careful with the brake lines because once the sway bar and shock is disconnected it will droop so far as to be pretty much hanging my the brake lines. Just unbolt the bracket that holds the line to the frame and it'll give you enough slack.
