This was out at Fort Indiantown Gap, or "the Gap" as we locals call it. They have puplic dirt road that runs up to "Hawk Watch", but if the red flag is up, its closed and means that they are practicing bombing or firing artillery.

They do the same thing in the Ocala National Forest except they don't close it down they have a designated area for Bombing that has a burn all the way around it.
I hear them @ Avon Park all the time,it makes my house rattle. Its been about a 4 weeks since they have been there.
I remember going to Boyscout summer camp when I was a kid. This also happened to be close to the "Gap". All week long you would hear A-10 Warthogs (Tank Killers)flying over head, and then you could hear them off in the distance firing that big ass gattling gun they have in the nose. Man do they sound awesome! And the Jet itself has a unique sound all of its own. Those were always my favorite growing up. I even remember doing a book report on them and their importance in the Gulf War my freshmen year in highschool.
I like it when they do it @ Night because you can see the tracers.:D
that would be cool, i've never actually seen that in person
It is cool but when they do it until 11 pm and your trying to go to sleep it gets old.
Three more signs you might not want to see while wheeling. These are from west Texas and Big Bend area on the U.S. Mexico border.

One more...This one really gave me the creeps. I saw it posted after taking a VERY wrong turn down a long desolate west Texas road. I'm glad that I never met up with the person that had so proudly constructed this sign. If they had asked...I would've said that it was spelled perfectly.

 Yep! You can almost hear the banjo playing. Truly a no win situation if you had needed help out there. "squeal like a p...." Well, we all know what comes next.:bawling:

I thought they had stopped using live ordnance in Ocala years ago. Guess they're back at it.

i see one of those "us boundery" signs every morning. it's hangin on the wall in my garage. mine isn't as nice as that one, it has about a dozen bullet holes in it. i kept mine as a souvenir from my times down on the border.
I know this post is old but I just saw it and I can't stop laughing. It just sounds painful.
