I have a 2015 JKU Rubicon. I am wanting to put some light duty cargo netting on the inside of the roof over the rear storage. The cargo netting came with stick on or screw on supports. I stuck them on the top, but they don't stick well enough to even hold the tension of the cargo net. There was no way I was going to drill a hole in the hardtop, but upon further inspection it looks as if the very sides of the roof are double layered. I know on the left side the wiring harness to the back glass and the washer run through the double walled area. Not sure what runs through the right side, if anything.

Is it safe to drill a small hole on each side of the hardtop for very light duty (probably less than 10 lbs)?

Yes the top can handle it. There are hardtop companies which have you drill all the way through. I'd look about some adhesive strips and see if those would suit your need. Those little things can handle quite a load.

I did try some different adhesive. I will know later today if it will hold. Did figure out that the washer fluid and wiring to the back glass don't run through the double wall. So lot less nervous about drilling them now.

Ever think about mounting it like the sun screens? Bunges around the roll bar (spider web shades)?

I am thinking about getting one like in the link to use as a storage space.
