Rubi Axles...How much used?

How much do you think a set of "take offs" Rubi axles would cost?...I have been thinking and I may want to upgrade at least my front axle before I dumpe $500+ in the front stock X axle (5.13's)...Just thought I would ask and see if anyone had an idea as to a "going" price...Thanks.

You can buy a new one for about $1500
I don't think you'll find too many used Rubi axles for sale yet. Most of the D60 conversions are being done to X's, although a few are being done to Rubi's.

As mentioned you can pickup a brand new axle for less than $1500, which is a great deal.
I just want to be able to have a beefier front axle so I may just wait a little longer and buy a new front Rubi axle and then regear front and rear with 5.13's...Thanks for the input...

If I were to buy a front Rubi axle what would I need to get the locker to work?...Could I get it without the locker?...I am going to have a budget of $4K in the spring (if our house sells by then) and I am looking to go with 5.13's 37's, RC 4" lift, and the labor for the gear job...Just trying to get a plan together...If I can get the the Rubi axle without the locker for $1200 or less I may be able to swing the extra $$$ to buy the axle...

Since I would like to run 37's could I beef up the d30 to handle these?...What would I have to upgrade to make sure the D30 would handle the 37's?...

pretty sure the only way to get the Rubi axle is with the locker.

for the D30 I guess you could put new shafts in it, keep the stocks as spare and keep it light on the skinny.
Could I get by if I bought Rubi axles F&R for $2500 w/4.10's with 37's since I have a 6spd?...It would only be for 6-12 months before I would regear to 5.13's...I would get front and rear lockers this way too...If I can't get by with 37's how about 35's?...Thanks.

Todd
you will be in about $3000 for both axles but you can probably sell your old ones and make up some of that cost.

you could run with the 4.10's for a while all though you would be under powered you can get by just don't expect to ever use 6th.!!
I ran 35's with the 4.10 gears on an auto and it was not that bad. Just never could use O/D or drove like an old lady. A friend has 4.10 gears with 37's, I dont hear him complain about it so must not be to bad but I am sure he will post up soon.
I have front and rear Rubi 44's with 5.13's and Crane diff covers up for sale...Axles have ~27000 miles on them, gears have ~4000 miles on them...gears were installed by Off-Road Evolution...$2500 obo

What do you think I could get for the stock axles?...$5-600?...

What would be more bang for my buck...

#1 Run the stock D30 and regear with 5.13's F&R ($1300 installed), new Soft 8's ($400), Treadwright 37's ($700), Rough Country 4" ($575)...Total $3K...When it breaks up-grade to the Rubi Front w/5.13's...

#2 Swap out stock both axles with Rubi axles ($3k), run 4.10's, 2.5" BB lift ($400), Soft 8's ($400), find a used set of 35's ($4-500)...Re-gear down the road and up-grade to 37's...

Just a thought...

Well I'll take one part out of that equation for you...the axles will be moving to GA next week.

Well, I have traveled to Atlanta many times and I know I can be there in 14-16 hours...Now I need to come up with the $$$...Shipping would be a killer!!!!

How about you hold on them until say March and then we will work out the details!!!!:thefinger:
if budget is a factor... why not just get a front axle for now and worry with the rear later? You do have a 44 rear correct? (some early jk's had 35 rear).

Yeah, I have the rear D44...That is what I am thinking and asked earlier...I have been dealing with a local dealership for 15 years now and I have had some issues with my JK and they have been dragging their feet so I may be able to get the axle at cost...The owner's are somewhat "family friends"...We will see...

Dang, I would also be all over this if I had the money. Hmmm... what can I sell?
you get 60's?
Yeah, when planning, I figured I would save myself a ton of money doing it big the first time instead of: axle shafts, gussets, CA skids, drive shafts to fit 44s, and wheels/tires to fit stock 5 on 5 bolt pattern now...and then down the road 60's, new drive shafts to fit 60s, and new wheels/tires to fit 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern...I didn't have any of the stuff up above for the 44 yet and I'd just about had it with the 5.13's and the 35's on the street with my stick. All of that, and I get the opportunity to have the manufacturer install the 60's plus free prototype brakes while I'm still in Cali...sure can't beat it.

For those that are interested in the 44's I have...there's no rush, take your time and do what you must...they're just axles after all!
