I thought I had my next mod picked out. It was a toss between an exhaust or the front part of the R.H.ROLLCAGE. I know their products are pretty top notch but been reading alot of the side not fitting properly and causing some serious cosmetic damage to the dashboards. Just looking 4 some feedback if this is from lack of quality or just plain and simple human error during installation. ANY FEEDBACK at all I would trully appreciate so my $$$$ goes to the right place.....THANKX GUYS

Not 100% on this, but I think a lot of their products were having fitment issues the other year. Not sure if this is still an ongoing issue or not. I saw pics of their rocker guards last year and they fit like crap in the pics. The recent ones I've seen show them fitting much better. Product or installer being the cause, not sure.

Sure someone with 1st hand will get back to you.

I like my RH cage, even if it does bow the center of the dash a bit.
I think some of the dash bowing issues are install problems.
When you install the bar across the dash, raising or lowering it just a little tiny bit on the side tubes it mounts to will make a big difference in how hard you 'squeeze' the dash.
Theres also the issue some people have with the doors rubbing the side plates, but I never had that problem.

I really don't understand making a choice between these two as your next mod?
The RH is a chunk of change and a safety item.

Exhaust - even if you blow a bunch of money on a bolt on deal that goes in the stock location, it's just a noise thing. Zero to very little performance gain.
For exhaust, it makes a lot more sense to just buy a muffler, do 2 quick cuts and slip it in under the drivers seat. It's protected there, sounds better and even if you buy a kit to do it, it's under $350, if you buy the muffler and clamps (all you really need) it's under $100
I think I have $85 and 20 minutes in relocating a Flowmaster Super 44 under the seat.

Your 100% right on the whole exhaust scenario. So pretty much you believe its human cause on the bowing of the dash. If you happen to have a pic would like to see exactly how bad the damage was. Thanks for the heads up and advice. Now Il just have to decide what to buy if i go with neither. Could be smart and save it but I know I wont be when it comes to my JK
THANKS BRO

Thanks 4 the fast reply. Such small amount of damage for a sweet looking cage plus you cant even see it from the inside. But just be a fair trade off.
THANX Bro

If you look at this pic

See how the side bars are angled?
If you move the cross bar up just a little, it would try to 'spread' the dash instead of 'squeezing' it.
Of course it's gonna have to do it by flexing the side plates a little and I think thats where you run into door rubbing.
The side plates are 1/4" steel so you aren't gonna flex them too much, but the bolt to the pinch seems on the very front (firewall edge) of the plate so it may be possible that people are twisting them just enough to get them to rub.
I dunno.
Plus there are always gonna be manufacturing variances from vehicle to vehicle.

Started to have a lifted and loaded flashback for a second. Mass and CAPS!!!

Ive only seen two rockhards installed and both were pretty good fits. Biggest problem with both were when trying to close the doors on the subframe plate.

As far as for my Jeep....

I have seen the pictures of the Poly and have no doubt that it is stronger than the competition but my JK is not a dedicated trail rig and I don't really want the vertical tubing into the footwells. Rock Hard tubing appears that it would provide the necessary roll protection I need. The Poly's rear section is much better IMO than the Rock Hard and not intrusive at all to the occupants.

Once I see how the kit is installed in Hitmoney's rig I will see what direction I go in.

Hi there Sturdy, I just responded to your PM.

Overall I am VERY happy with my Rock Hard cage. After I installed it (but before I tightened all the collars up) I thought I was going to have to trim my Freedom Top panels on the side to make it fit. I called up Rock Hard directly and spoke to their sales guy James. This dude is TOP NOTCH!! He actually lives here in Phx and offered to come by and help me install it. I didn't have the time right then but came back to it a week or so later and after I tightened the collars all up (6 bolts each) they squeed in enough for the panels to fit without trimming.

I haven't had any of the door rub issues, any squeezed dash or other fitment issues. For $480 for the cage + $69 to powdercoat, I am EXTREMELY happy!!

I bought one of the first runs of the RH cage. I had some problems with the fitment but Louie at RH is the man and hooked me up, fixed everything. I don't live too far away from him either so he has used my JK to design a few parts (just for the 2 door as he owns a 4dr). So I had the cage for easily a year and just recently took it apart (the "a" pillar with the handles) and kept the "T" portion of the cage in place. I didn't like how it messed up my door on the passenger side but that isn't entirely Louie's fault upon further investigation; my door isn't hung very well after a body shop mutilated my Jeep. It is all good now but I am just going to build my own down bars or buy something from Poly and weld it in there myself.

So...in all RH stuff is great but NOTHING can replace a well built weld in cage tied into your floors or frame.

Exhaust is stupid unless you have a Hemi; don't waste your money. I put an intake and exhaust on my LJ and it sounded really mean but I think that mostly had to do with the mechanical fan blowing air around? Maybe, I'm not sure. I had the Banks exhaust and it was painful at about 2200 RPMs in the cab so I cut it out and got a muffler from Midas...something off brand and cheap, lighter restriction. Believe it or not, it sounded much better...should have started there in the first place as it would have only cost me $50.
