It's nicer in person then in the photos. The axles were on the trailer still. Being that I work in the body and paint biz, I was all over the paint first. Looks really nice! I can't wait to see it after it gets the new axles, the motor and the 40's!!!!

I had my buddy snap a pic on his phone but he hasn't sent it to me yet so.......
If you get that phone pic, I'd like to see it!

Man, I tell you..., seeing the motor, gets me thinking... And it is all bad, when I start thinking about motors...

The 6.2L and the 6L80 trans fits better than the Hemi and it is lighter (100 Pounds heaver as a complete package then the 3.8L) we are getting closer to the pay off.

What are the legal ramifications of this swap regarding smog laws...especially here in California? Unless the law has changed recently, only an engine swap with another engine that was offered by the same manufacturer in the same model year was legal.

OK here we go on the smog laws (In California)this Jeep well be Smog legal and will get a new emissions label, The law goes like this we can use the same year or newer engine and the engine has to be out of a downer vehicle the same class ( light duty ).
Also we need to use all of the emissions parts from the vehicle like the cats and we need to route the exhaust like it was in the downer vehicle.
OK one last thing we got hit with and this is are new problem, we need to check the Vin for the emission warranty the Jeep has and if it is like for example 7/70 or 3/36 we can not get a emissions label until that Jeep is over the warranty period. (That is are new problem)

I stand corrected. I never had a smog license; so I wasn't completely sure what the laws were in our state (and I was too lazy to research it). Thanks for the 411! Hopefully, you can guys get it legal. Just report the VIN @ 81,000 miles - that way it's out of any and all emission warranties. :)
