2007 wrangler sahara 4 door w/ no mods other than a 4 pole trailer light connector
fixes i have tried--- replacing the bulb, cleaning the contacts for the pig tail and the bulb, and argued with the dealer... all are temporary fixes

So, i bought my JK on nov. 15 of this year, all was going well the first week, then me and my family took a trip to san diego from fort bliss, tx. midway through the trip, the right rear turn signal went out. swapped out the bulb at the next gas station and to my surprise, the turn signal still did not work. took it in to a mechanic in san diego and they said they fixed it, i was glad to see that it came back, didnt even get a chance to make it to my in-laws before it started hyperflashing again as if the bulb was out, called them back and they said it might be the pigtail (hardest thing to find in el paso and san diego). fast forward to today, it acts up every other day, temporary fix is to shut down to the point of opening a door with the key out, hitting the lock button and then starting it up like normal. then it works for a little while.

I am stumped, could use the help. thanks

if you want to see the temporary fix let me know, il email you the video

Have you tried removing the trailer harness out of the loop? Had one on a ford truck years ago that caused the turn signals to do screwy things, it worked fine while a trailer was plugged into it but once the trailer was unplugged from it the rear lights did all kinds of crazy stuff.

Yeah the stock trailer wire harness comes off the left taillight and I just had a very similar issue with mine. The trailer wire harness was corroded and shorting out the signal wire. If you tied yours into the right taillight I'd check that out. The stock harness is like 40 bucks from the dealer and comes with everything you need to pop off the left taillight, unplug one harness and replace with the trailer wiring harness, if that does turn out to be your issue. If not, the taillight wiring on the right (passenger side) comes down in a loom with the subwoofer (if you have one) and tailgate (lock/3rd brake light) wiring. I'm not sure where those tie in together but it's another avenue for a short.

i had this exact same problem. i finally fixed it by putting some conductive grease on the contacts of the wiring harness and connecting and disconnecting the harness about a dozen times to work it into the contacts real good. it has been over a month now and the light has been operating flawlessly.

I tried that already too, recently i pulled over when it wasnt working again and i did notice that there was no power being sent to the right turn signal all the way to the TIPM. replaced the TIPM hoping that i have found the issue but it still happens. a friend of mine mentioned that it may be the multi function switch causing the issue but i am skeptical at this point

No help for your problem. But if you make 3 lefts, you'll be going right.

I personally hate the entire electrical system on the JK. Mine thinks the key is in the ignition all the time.

The advice you've been given is solid. Take the trailer harness out of the equation and see what happens.

I am having this same issue with the right turn signal not working but when I unplug the trailer harness the right one works and the left doesn’t. I’m stumped. Does anyone have any ideas?

has anyone figured this out? I have 2014 Wrangler doing the same. Right Rear light will work for 5-15mins and will shut off while driving. A message to replace the rear lamp will appear on the dash. Restarting the Jeep will bring it back on. Bulbs have been replaced, light harness switched from left to right side.. and still the same issue with the Rear Right side. I have a trailer harness but it has been installed for a year. This issue only started a month ago.

thanks for your help,
Mark
