Hey everyone,

Has anyone done anything to replace the keys to their JK? I hate having both the ignition key and the key fob as one piece. I'd love to have a simple key and then a separate (tiny) keyfob.

Has anyone tried to replace their key with this?

Also, has anyone ever found a different keyfob to lock/unlock the Jeep? I'm all about saving space in my pocket. I'm tempted to just break one of my keys apart and rigging up my own tiny fob after I get another spare key.

You can always just get a regular non-remote key blank cut, ditch the fob entirely and unlock the door with your key like we used to in the 60's. Think of the space saving for your pocket, you only have to carry a key, no fob at all!!!

I on the other hand went to the trouble of re-wiring my non-remote Rubicon with everything needed to use a factory remote entry key, adding electric windows in the process. I didn't want a key and a separate fob like you typically get if you retrofit electric locks into a vehicle after it is already built.

I tried to get a key made without the remote, but if you lock your doors (with the remote or the door lock button), and try to unlock from the outside with just the key the horn will start blowing. I would love to get rid of that big bulky key, so I hope somebody has a solution...
