So I have googled this and read almost every thing I could. I still don't know what to do.

With out any rhyme or reason the Red lightning bolt comes on and flashes. I can restart the jeep and it goes away. It has only done it one time while the jeep was moving. Most of the time is does it idling at a stop light. It can take 2 min to happen or 9 miles or ???? You never know when it is going to happen and I can not get it to replicate it. It is never consent.

I thought maybe the pedal assembly or the Throttle body. I went to motech to see if they had some. The tech that I talked to say maybe the power supply (AKA the fuse box under the hood).

I am a little lost and pissed. LOL.

any help or opinion would be appreciated.

Thank you

I have a 08 rubicon and we were setting in park idling and the red lightning bolt came on and the temperature gage dropped to cold what could this be we are new to the jeep experience
My husband's 2013 Rubicon is doing exactly this same thing. He can drive it for about 10 minutes and the throttle light comes on the dash. As soon as that happens his heater completely quits working and the engine temp drops to cold. He does the brake reset and it works just fine, but it always ends up happening a second time on his drive to work. Did you have any luck finding out what the problem was?

Did you ever find the problem? I have a 2011 Jeep Wrangler and sometimes the temp gage will stay at 0 and I get the lighting bolts on dash. Turn off and restart and temp works and lightning bolts go away. But now it does it when driving and I will have to pull over and restart. New water pump, thermostat and sensor. Also I noticed the fan kicks on in high. I thought maybe my computer but just installed a new one and it still does it. Help

My 2007 used to do that everytime it rained, I had the PSC hood louver and chalked it up as water getting in, same story, just restarted the jeep and it went away everytime.

I'd check the wires for corrosion or see if there's any moisture or anything in the throttle body. Best of luck!!

Welcome to the Forum, from Cave Creek AZ.

Code P2182 is a code indicating the ECT sensors do not match each other and if the second sensor fails then the engine may have running issues. This will fail the vehicle for emissions testing.
What repairs can fix the P2182 code?

Check the plug at the throttle body. The JK has electronic throttle control and all signals go through the harness & plug to the throttle body itself. The plug on the harness is flimsy and over time may break off / come loose, or have an intermittent connection.

When I did the timing chain replacement on my '09 four years ago I used that as an opportunity to reseal the lower intake manifold. As such I had to disconnect the harness at the throttle body. When I went to reattach the connector the retaining ears snapped off like they were made from a Wheat Thin. I had to wire the connector to the throttle boidy to move the JK and the red light of doom came on several times due to a lost connection. A new harness (probably no longer available) was $125, just the connector repair kit was $85! I opted for the repair kit and simply swapped out the old plastic connector for the new one, rather than cutting and soldering new wires. The old connector is still sitting on my tool box staring at me, and I'm still cursing the SoB.
