So I have Googled this and read almost everything I could, and I still don't know what to do.

Without any rhyme or reason, the red lightning bolt comes on and flashes. I can restart the jeep, and it goes away. It has only done it one time while the jeep was moving. Most of the time, it does it idling at a stop light. It can take 2 min to happen or 9 miles or ???? You never know when it will happen, and I can not get it to replicate it. It is never consent.

I thought maybe the pedal assembly or the throttle body. I went to motech to see if they had some. The tech I talked to said maybe the power supply (AKA the fuse box under the hood).

I am a little lost and pissed. LOL.

Any help or opinion is appreciated.

Thank you

Test your battery. I got it a couple times just before finding I had a bad battery. New battery, have not seen it since. May be coincidence but......

After some additional research , but my my aforementioned experience before and after a battery swap holds true.

30. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) Light
This light informs you of a problem with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. If a problem is detected while the engine is run- ning, the light will either stay on or flash
depending on the nature of the problem. Cycle the ignition key when the vehicle is safely and completely stopped and the shift lever is placed in the PARK position. The light should turn off. If the light remains on with the engine running, your vehicle will usually be drivable; however, see an authorized dealer for service as soon as possible.
If the light continues to flash when the engine is running, immediate service is required and you may experience reduced performance, an elevated/rough idle, or engine stall and your vehicle may require towing. The light will come on when the ignition is first turned ON and remain

on briefly as a bulb check. If the light does not come on during starting, have the system checked by an autho- rized dealer.

I don't know what year yours Is but the battery in my '12 barely made it 2 years... also in the Vegas heat.
Which would also make sense as to why it's happening at idle compared to at freeway speeds.

Same issue with my 08. Happens once and a while. I've changed battery's. And still happens here and their. Also make sure all the fuses are set in place. I've noticed that they slip up once on a while pushed them all back down. Haven't had a issue for 5 months now

I troubleshot a 2011 today with a similar issue, red lightning bolt. Fine at speed but it came on at idle and the motor was stumbling. Only code I saw was a vacuum leak (dont remember exactly what the code was). So being under warranty I sent her to the dealership.

I imagine hers has a small vacuum leak causing the stumbling at idle, but at speed it creates enough vacuum to run fine. Hope this helps!

I'm guessing that you probably already figured out your problem but I thought I'd would be helpful to note a problem that I had with my 09 wrangler unlimited.

I was getting a cranking but no start scenario. It turned out that one of the wires going to the fuse block was corroded so badly that it was completely disconnected. I replaced the wire and now she's back on the road. Also note, I didn't get the "red lighting bolt of death". I hope this helps.

Changed the sensor and it has not come back on yet. Thank you for your help though.
