Ok I have just about had enough from my existing rear bumper/tire carrier. I am debating on re-building off of the one I have or just starting from scratch.

The question I have is this though, Who has run a rear tire carrier/rear stinger type? Did you like it?

I am thinking that my new bumper carrier will be like a stinger style so that I don't have to pull off the spare tire for things like White Knuckle Hill or the wall on Winch Hill #3 etc. Plus this will help keep me from doing tail stands as much as I did in my Amigo.

So I'm looking at a tire carrier that folds down and my 37's will sit inside the rear stinger so I don't have to lift it so far when I change it and when up doubles as a stinger.

The Pros and Cons are out there and some are somewhat obvious like I probably get into the back more than I change out the spare. But aside from those what do you think of a stinger styled rear tire carrier? Do you have pictures?

Thoughts!??!??

Oooh! An actuator, very cool! Let me know when you are nearing completion so I can swing by.

Im pretty much doning the same thing, nothing fancy like a lift or anything... just waiting on my steel to be delivered. I put 3/16 steel corners on to help distribute the weight. Im planning on plating the inside and attaching it to the roll cage. Im sure it will be a couple weeks, my focus is on the front bumper right now...

I've always liked the looks of the PSD stinger rack. It would also protect the tailgate in a collision. But, wouldn't this be a pain to lift, drop, lift, step around, trip over? Of course, when down it would provide a good place to sit during lunch breaks on the trail. Can you design one with a simple (light weight) rear bumper, and gas can holder? Just curious.

I don't think anyone took their spare off for White Knuckle during the 2006 EJS. The JK (or your 37s) may be different, though.

I have Poison Spyder stingers front and rear on my TJ and I'm getting rid of them.

They get in the way more than they help, at least for me on 35's. I'm going to 42's and still don't want them on there. Speaking strictly in regards to the rear, getting into the back is a pain vs a swing out tire carrier.
