So I finally broke down and ordered a '08 Jeep Unlimited Rubicon. I figured I might as well since its going to be another 5 years before I finish my '74 Bronco that i am turning into a rock crawler. Never thought that I would own a Jeep, but I am looking forward to going four wheeling again.

Thus, I am starting a new project entitled Project Unlimited Bolts. Why "Unlimited Bolts"? because the intent of this build is to keep it simple and use only bolt on components. You see, I have enough fabrication ahead of me turning my '74 EB into a rock crawler (4 links, rockwells or unimogs, diesel, full cage, etc) and since their only only 24 hours in a day, and i do have to work, I am going to take advantage of the after market for this build. The after market for an '08 Jeep has much more options then a '74.

Starting Point:
'08 4-door Unlimited Rubicon
6 speed
V-6
Hard Top
Power package (wanted to keep truck basic, but "splurged" on having an alarm)
Dana 44's with lockers
31's?
enough plastic to build a boat from (the dealer wouldn't let me order it without all this trim!!!!)

Plan:
Long arm suspension (4" lift?)
37" tires (BFG KM2's)
beadlocks
front/rear steel bumpers
front winch
on-board air
steel fenders

Thoughts?
I am going to start with a suspension lift. I have been looking online and really like Full-Tractions lift. Looks like it could take some abuse. Anyone have this installed? Anyone have thoughts on a better lift that flexes more?

I do not know a whole lot abut the full traction lift other then what I have heard around the forums, there are others on here that will be able to give som real world feedback on that one.

I am looking right now at the Poly Performance kits. Have you seen these? Not sure what price range you are looking in but the synergy systems may be worth looking into...

EDIT: Just re read your original post, missed the long arm part, I don't think they are offering long arm kits right now...

Heads up..... 37's are OK with our short arm kits.

LA kits are in the works but I don't have an ETA yet.

Sounds like a nice build, I think you could save a few $$$ and stay with the stock length JK arms, which are basically mid-arm length from the factory.

I forgot to add, seems like the majority of the long arm kits out right now require some cutting and welding. There may be one or two that don't.

Seems to me the 41" of flex I have now with my short arm kit is MORE THAN ENOUGH for a daily driver/dual purpose machine. :thefinger::thefinger:

The JK arms are already pretty long and how much ground clearance are you going to sacrifice or at what cost of break over? If the arms on the frame side aren't tucked up inside the rails you might as well get one of those Chevy IFS kits so you can run 44's on the pavement princess.:devil::grinpimp::mr-t:

X2 on all points. I'm not exactly sure what you are going to gain with a 4" LA.

from my experience, once you lift a vehicle, you need longer radius arms to maintain the same amount of flex and to keep your geometry in order. just like having to extend your driveshafts, or change your pinion angle on a lifted vehicle. but good points neverless. i think i am going to wait and see what AEV/Nth degree come out with before i buy anything.

Keep in mind all good lift kits will have longer radius arms to compensate for the added lift, to keep the geometry in check.
I personally don't think they are needed on the JK until you start getting up to 6" or so, and then you have some other issues to deal with, like balancing pinion and caster, front drive shaft angle at the t-case, and going high steer.

There is a new Full Traction Long Arm on the way which i can only assume will be top notch. The Teraflex kit also looks like a real nice option.
