A whole 2 weeks into buying my new Rubi I awoke one morning to go get a coffee with my girlfriend at my favorite Dunkin Donuts (east coast thing ) Well upon taking my first left leaving my street a great stream of fresh water rain poured into my JK through the passenger B pillar which soaked my girlfriend. My first reaction was to laugh my ass off at her being soaked head to tow but then it hit me. I didnt pay for an internal waterfall in my new JK. So then the tears of laughter:bawling: then turnes to those of anger:pissed:. Then as I jit the brakes to stop so I could get out a check the leak another great flowing stream of water then blessed my face and nav unit as well as my gauges from the front. So Its now been a few weeks and countless trips to the dealership and some even ending with them being so nice as to give mee a persoanl escort out of the building:thefinger:. At this point I dont even know what Iam feeling but joy, happiness, and an overall sense of wellbeing are definately not in the running........
Thanks for letting me *****

Many of us are in the same "boat"...(sorry for the pun). I am hesitating going in to have mine fixed again, as they had not (at the last time I went in for the fix) yet had a means of a repair that actually worked to stop the water flow. When I washed my jeep yesterday, I just left the top dirty- so as not to flood the interior. It sucks that Diamler has had so many problems (hard and soft tops) and has refused to address it. Chrysler customer service and R&D are nonexistent these days. The dealerships can't fix it because they don't have the correct means to be able to do so. I do keep a roll of paper towels and a couple of old bath towels in the jeep at all times. That's been my only solution. :pissed:

Hope they will eventually take care of this...but when a company is hemorrhaging money, then it may be doubtful. :shaking:

in that sinking boat too. This morning after a decent rain I checked the Jeep. Front, not too wet actuallly this time. About like having a few drips. The rear though, got a decent puddle in the rear floor boards but it is in the low spot between the back of the front seat and the drain plug infront of the rear seat (I have no carpet).... Why would you not put the drain plugs in the low spots?

The dealer cant fix it and as Strub says, the dealers don't have the answers because corporate doesn't have the answers. They have a list of suggestions and when those don't work they have no answers.

Chrysler, LLC is not going to be able to help you guys...they don't have the money...they're goin' under, may file Chapter 11, or be bought out by yet another foreign investment entity...they've also got their hands out to Uncle Sam for a bailout....if all else fails, sayonara Chrysler...a limited liability corporation...but not before they pay their executives over $60,000,000.00 in Christmas bonuses...that comes first before everything else.

The best news first right before the holidays...

I JUST FILED MINE!!!

If all of you guys and anyone else who has had this problem file a complaint with NHTSA, they can and may very well force a recall!

http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/index.cfm

And yes I think water pouring in from the roof is a safety hazard!
I found (3) three complaints for this in their database.

Well you add 1 more to that. I just filed mine so thats for the link. I know its a slim to none chance but hey all I had to lose was the 5 minutes it took me to fill out the form.

well I have 40K on mine and I just got the leak. Usually in heavy rain and it appears to come where the two panels meet near the windshield.

That's where mine leaks as well...and onto the center console...but it also channels to the back and then onto the carpet and into the storage tub back there.

I have somehow been blessed with a leak that disappeared many moons ago.
Mine was fixed after the last trip to the dealership, but after the "patches" shifted in the summer heat, and the butyl sealant began to ooze out...the leak is back again. Hard to think it is permanently cured due to the dealerships that are just as baffled as the customers.

terrahawk- No disrespect- I do hope yours is done leaking.

I need to take off the panels one more time and reseat. I'm sure the panel either changed it's shape or the gasket moved.

Yea- I'll bet the gasket (patches- :shaking:) have shifted around. The panels seem to be constructed pretty well. I don't see that they would lose their shape very easily.

I compleatly understand the problem. I have filed under the lemon law in Ohio. I don't know what the hell I expect to happen but we'll see.

What year JK do yall have? I have an 08 Unlimited, bought it in Aug 07, with the dual tops and haven't had a problem with it leaking. I kind of expected it to since that's what Jeeps do. My YJ and my TJ both leak. Just figured it was a "Jeep Thing".:bounce:

I have had 3 jeeps wranglers now...2 tj's and now my jk. I have had soft tops on them all and the only one that leaked was caused by me. I noticed on my 03 tj when i was putting the top back the stitching would run on back door/back corner panels. It eventually elongated some of the holes and took its toll on the stitching. When the top was up, you could tell on the very back seem...right above the back window running completely along the top...where it had been rubbed enough to where it was leaking. The leak would come almost to my soundbar and then start dripping down. I also noticed the rubber seal above the wind shield would shift forward when you are closing the clasp down. Fix to that was just putting your hand in front of the rubber seal to hold it in place so it would seat correctly. IF i didnt do that, it would leak there too. Hopefully this helps someone...Oh and a vinyl patch repair kit will slow/fix the leak at a seem for time being or all together. Its cheaper to try that vs throwing a new top on it.

Part of the reason why I opted (on my JK) to get the hard top, was that I was tired of leaking soft-tops on previous jeeps. I believe that others also opted for the hardtop for the same reason. Chrysler itself- knows, and has tsbs for both soft and hard top owners...and as well, they have reissued/ redesigned the "fix" at least twice that I am aware of. The newly designed seal kit also did not fix my leak. They may have a third or fourth generation repair kit for the JK right now, but because they must use high pressure water to test it, I am hesitant to do it again. The last time they 'fixed" mine...I got the vehicle back with the entire rear portion (carpet/ storage compartment/ jack compartment/ sub-woofer/ etc) completely saturated with water...and a service mgr that said "Oh well...Bring it in again and we'll do this whole thing over." When/ If I do go back for the third time for this...I will be sure to remove the carpet, sub, tools, jack, etc...and make sure that I line the dash and console with bath towels.

I wish that it was as easy as "seating something correctly, due to something I had damaged myself...but the majority of owners experiencing this problem, are likely not having that issue.

Sorry for the rant (as I am watching them beg congress for billions of dollars to keep their raft afloat...:pissed:)...Sorry.
