The cigar lighter was a blank. It had a stupid plastic clip for holding paper or some such nonsense. My intention was to simply replace it with a USB outlet, but one removed I discovered that Jeep had created a non-standard hole specially for the clip. So I dremeled off the clip, then cut a hole in it and used a glue to hold the whole thing together.

This is the USB http://amzn.com/B00R5W9K3Y

I should add that the main difference between my mod and illypso's is that he used thin wire that would fit between the case and the PCB. I used grade 14 and so had to drill holes in the case to extract the cables from under the PCB.

OEM dash with night lights!

As you can see from my above post, I've copied the great work done by @illypso but I was never happy with it. What I really wanted was switches that would light up with the rest of the dash so I could see them at night. I'm happy to report that it's now possible.

The switch you need is from Jtron and contains 2 LEDs. The issue I had with the design is that it has two GNDs, a +ve and a load. I was expecting 1 GND, two +ve and a load. After lots of effort trying to rebuild the switches, or to jerryrigging a system of getting duel power in to them, I suddenly realized the obvious; that relays can switch GND as easily as they can switch +ve.

So that's the setup you looking at here.
Pin1 is the load GND
Pin2 is the +ve in
Pin3 is the load +ve out
Pin4 is a relay switched GND

I used a 4 pin relay attached to the cigar lighter power. Now when I have ACC, the relay switches on the second GND. It works like a charm.

Below are some photos
1) the modified OEM part. Remember that all 4 of the blanks are different and have a north and south. Number them!
-) the switch is modified to fit the space by making it narrower by shaving the side and shorter by trimming the contacts
2) the completed unit. The yellow wire is the ACC switched GND. Notice the daisy chain (made it simpler in the dash)
3) my lights operate independent of the ACC so this is what it looks like when they're on
4) This is the night driving view. ACC is on but the lights are off
5) and finally, ACC on with the lights on too.

I'm so very happy with this. It's taken me 18 months to find a switch. http://www.jkowners.com/forum/elect...al-lighting-tech-dept/images..._face_grin.png

OP, please let me know the exact switches you used. I bought what i thought were them but the contacts are too long and hit the board. I cant find any that are more shallow than these.

Thanks for posting this (nice job). I had seat heaters put in aftermarket and they put the switches in the area below this panel. I never know if they are on (my wife likes them on all the time) until I am a few miles down the road and my butt is on fire. I'd like to move these to where the factor switches would be (on either end of this control panel) -- BUT, I did not know this was a circuit board controlled panel. So, now I have to rethink my approach if the existing buttons will fit properly -- thanks for the info!!!!
