"President Obama's shortened trip to Ireland wasn't without one embarrassment -- a stretch presidential limousine that became stuck on a ramp outside the U.S. embassy in Dublin.
The car, known in Secret Service parlance as "The Beast," even had U.S. and Irish flag festooning staffs on the hood when it ingloriously came to a stop on a ramp. The photo above shows every limo driver's nightmare: dips in the road, or a big bump, can bring a long car to a quick halt.
AFP reports that the Secret Service is saying the car wasn't carrying the president, but was, in fact, a "spare limo carrying staff and support personnel only."
Other cars in the motorcade negotiated the ramp without much trouble, but the big stretch job, reportedly built on a medium-sized truck frame and built to withstand anything a terrorist can dish out, ground to a noisy halt.
"There was a loud kind of bang, metal-on-metal, grinding, crunching noise and the car was stuck," AFP quotes a local reporter who saw the incident as saying."
