Nitto Mud Grapplers

Was thinking about running these once I make the jump to bigger tires, but their tires for a 15" rim are way wider than what I wanna run, so I may have to change my plans and go with a 16 or 17" rim. The only downside I see is that then I'm stuck with a D load range tire. I wanted to go with a C for good ride quality. How do they ride in a D load range? I wanna go with a 35x12.50 tire on a 8" wide wheel. I'd consider going with a 15"x10" wheel if Nitto made them in a 35x13.50 for that wheel size, but its a 35x14.50, way wider than I wanna go.

Other than the ride, yeah I know they are gonna be noisy, but I want something that I know will do good in mud, and something that will give me the piece of mind that its gonna be super durable, and something that will balance fairly easy (as apposed to Swampers).

Friend of mine is running 37x 13.50 R 18 Nitto Mud Grapplers on a Poison Spyder 18 x9 rim. They do rub pretty well on his front fenders, front wheel wells, and front bumper, and on the rear fenders. He is not using any wheel spacers and has a Skyjacker 4" lift. On the good side, those tires have excellent sidewall "bite" and perform very well on rocks, in soft mud, and on steep hill climbs. I don't know what load range they are, however, I am running 35 x 12.50 KM2's on 17s and they are "D" rated. They handle excellently on the road and are very quiet compared to the Swamper SSR radials (that I had on a TJ).

*He used very little weight to get them to balance although others say that they DO take a lot to get them balanced correctly. They seem like they would require a lot of weight to get them right.

I'm very pleased with my 35"x12.5"x17". I chose the 17" because I knew the wheels wouldn't cause any space issues, and I would have the best opportunity for larger rotors if a company ever decides to improve the brakes for the JK.

They are really freakin' loud.

EDIT: Mine took very little weight to balance.

That is no joke. The first time I rode in Clackey's jeep I was blown away bow how loud they are. Every bit as loud as boggers.

I'm hoping I don't have any rubbing issues. My plan is to keep the suspension stock and get a set of the Xenon Flat Flares and run a 35x12.50 tire on a wheel with 3.75 or 4.0" of backspacing. I wanted to stick with a 15" wheel cause I knew that would work without rubbing, or slight rubbing at the most(i've seen other guys with that setup), but if I go with these tires, I guess I'll have to bump it up to a 16 or 17" wheel. thought maybe down the road, when i can afford it, I'd go with Teraflex's 2.5" spring lift and some 37's. Gotta sell the snowmobile before I can do any of it though

I'm very happy with mine
They are pretty loud, but I don't find them obnoxious
The ride is ok, but I need to get mine rebalanced.
They took an assload of weight to balance and I think the guy that did it had no clue. I wanted them on for the weekend and the only place I could find was a little one man gas station in nowheresville to mount them- the guy actually said "Extreme Terrain huh? Only place I ever seen tires like this here was on tv when them fools drive them jeeps up the sides of mountains and stuff" :laughing:

These things are WIDE cuz of the side lugs. I was gonna go 14.50s and I'm kinda glad I didn't.

I just stepped up to 40's and I went with these because I couldn't get the KM2's, I've only had them on for a few hundred miles but this is what I've found. I run 28 psi for the street and it rides really nice, now, do I lose some MPG running them that low? Yes, but I don't care because when I drive I want to be comfortable and if I lose a couple MPG so be it.

Sound, oh yea they're loud!

PS. It took less weight to balance them than the 37" KM2's, I wouldn't believe it if I didn't see it.

The used 35x17's I picked up are kicking ass. they work surprisingly well on road as well.
I will buy them for the next set new but larger ...if I can afford them at that time :laughing:
