I just bought a 08 Sahara a month ago. I started out on the JK-Forum site... What a joke.

I come from the Jeep SRT8 world where I was and still am very well known and liked, because I bent over backwards helping everyone on the forum. Well I came to find out that helping people on the JKforum site was not allowed. One person wanted a light bar( police style) and I told him I could get one cheap.....Ha. With in 15min my post was deleted and I had an email from the owner of the site.... I was not a vendor so I could not help anyone out with a product. What a tool.

Switched power idea

Ok guys/gals

I was stuck with our can bus B/S. I needed a high capasity in cab ignition source. Well of course all the fuses are out side and all the ignition wires are thin gauge. So this was my fix. It is a perfect solution for those that will be running a lot of lights, radar, cb, etc.

First I found a switched source in the fuse box. It is the 12v power source one (cigaret lighter). I have a terminal that will attach to the fuse and give you the ability to connect a wire. So now I have my Ignition wire.

Ofcourse that will not be able to hold a lot of current so I ran a 4 gauge wire from the battery to a circuit breaker (80amp for now) next to the battery. Going out of the breaker I ran, in loom, my 4 gauge wire into the cab where the clutch hole would be. (6spds will have to find a different location for mounting.)
In the loom I also ran my switched ignition wire.

I mounted an 80 amp solenoid. This has four posts and works like a relay but for more current, (for the 12v/ electronically challenged.) So on one post I have my power from the battery. On the switch part of the solenoid I connected my Ignition. The other small post gets a ground. and the output can be connected to anything you wish. For now just my radar, soon lights galore.

BTW: Nice choice of color. Maybe we should start a bright silver JK thread.

Am I reading right that you've got hookups on police lightbars? Is there plans for running one of those on your JK?

If so I am interested in what you do, just out of pure curiosity, as I run one for E-Crew for the local rally racing circuit. Right now I am working on building up a new (to me) vehicle as my old XJ was getting pretty worn out.

With that I am adding in a Code3 box, Yaesu 8900 quad band, a bunch of hidden UC style lights, and the lightbar as well. I run ambers, red, and greens. In the woods visibility is very very key, and the greens have special purpose.

Yes I can get just about anything. Whelen, Code3, Nova... etc.
I am trying to locate a good all around LED (clear) bar for up front. I would love to have a traffic advisor on the back of it. We will see. i do not want it to block my view of the sky when I pull off the tops!

Let me know what you need.

I'm pretty much all set for right now unless I could get a smokin deal on a red/amber LED lightbar for up top. I run an old school Vista bar right now, its a sheriff's office donation. More or less though, I've got 4 rectangular 22 led amber lights for hiding in the windows, as well as 2 greens and 2 reds of the same sort. Code3 box is already acquired, so I think I'm pretty much all set. The only other thing I think I want to add is some waterproof green lights up in the grille.

What are you using the greens for. Those usually indicate who is in charge on the scene or capt/chief. What conditions do they help with? Thanks for the info. I will check into some green whelen talons

Yeah they usually designate a command vehicle.

Since everything we do is closed course, our sanctioning bodies have designated green to show a stage closing. The last E-Crew vehicle thru a hot (active) stage runs what we call greenlight sweep. Once they clear the course they declare it cold (inactive). This lets crew and workers know that it is safe for them to move out of positions or to proceed off of the stage.

Welcome and nice Jeep! Are those the 08 Sahara silver bumper inserts? If so, yours is the first JK I've seen that I like with them.

Yep, 08 Sahara, Stock except for the 2" lift and the tires also the tinted tails.
Lots more to come.

I was asked not to post there because I have a Poly lift. Then he banned be when I started questioning him. The guy is a paranoid freak!!
