Has anyone installed the new afe exhaust manifold they look a lot stronger and less likely to crack with the new metal, was wondering if the stock heat shields will work on them before I order them .

The Ductile Iron Exhaust Manifolds by aFe are the same as their stainless steel shorty headers design wise, so I don't believe the exhaust heat shields will work. You may be able to get them to work with modification, but I don't feel it's worth the time.

For myself, I'm going to to have them ceramic coated. This will help with the heat reduction more efficiently in my opinion.

In addition, I didn't respond to your private message as knowledge is meant to be shared. Asking in your own thread or my thread for the supercharger install where I mentioned the product is more appropriate.

I suggest heading over the the Welcome Room and introduce yourself. This will allow for a proper introduction and hopefully you'll stick around for more.

Will Scarlet gives solid advice on hanging around & intro'ing your Jeep and self in our Welcome Room.

As far as the Afe "Twisted Steel" headers , they are probably the same as the other long headers for the 3.8l exhaust ports = they'll be a beetch to install, likely not fit very well & not give much more than additional heat to other components in performance increases.
I see the header benefit if you are SC'ed but the 3.8 sees very limited power-adder improvement

I immediately dislike the puny looking allen head fasteners they evidently attach with...look like bolts just waiting to snap-off or round-out when you try to torque them...

It cracks me up they picture them with the OEM gray boot ignition wires. Those things would melt like taffy next to those headers.

The aFe product referenced is actually the following:
https://afepower.com/afe-power-46-40114-bladerunner-ported-ductile-iron-exhaust-manifolds

Which is basically a ductile iron version of the following:

Pictures from their site for reference:

Sorry the images are small, but they're directly from aFe's site. And other then that, I agree with you.

oh.
Well, I didn't see those on their site at all, my bad.
Yeah, now that ductile iron manifold looks pretty good to me. Would it add some weight, likely, but it sure is a beefy lookin replacement. I'd probably run that if I need to replace my factory manis.

You'd have to go to Heatshield Products or someplace , buy & then wrap 'em and maybe just make your own heatshield, which is more fun, anyway.
Or you might could ball-peen that stock thing into some sorta usable shield.

those are nice looking. I wanna see it in person.

Bump!
Its time to replace my cracked exhaust manifold on my Ripp SC'ed 2009 JKUR with 88K miles.

Anyone try these aFe Ductile Iron Exhaust Manifolds yet? If so, how do you like them? will they melt everything around them like other tube style headers will do?

Trying to figure out which direction i should go...OEM, OE replacements or these aFe Ductile Iron Exhaust Manifolds.

I finally got around to installing these after 6 months (that is a new record these days for me-). Standard crack on PS but DS side looked fine surprisingly. This is set #3 for the girl so trying something else. Used studs instead of the crap bolts. Gonna grab a cheap temp gun and see what they run at

Any update on these? Decent reviews, mine haven't cracked yet, but hoping for bit more performance,

Everything great so far. Better mpg and very quiet/I was suprised.

I guess i just got used to a leaky exhaust over the years so the change/upgrade for me was pretty stark.

Very satisfied so far.

I have no clue if the ceramic coating has any bearing but they look good-lol

My 13 year old oem muffler is starting to rattle and the intermediate pipe is pretty crusty, so I was thinking of replacing them and do the manifolds also. Few , but all the reviews have been excellent for the AFE manifolds, how they have slipped through the cracks for enthusiasts is beyond me. I'm hoping to pick up a few hp with them as well as the mpg improvement. Are you running the spark plug boots to protect the wires from possible melting?

I am not running the boots but I do have them....lol.

I will take a look next oil change and see if there is anything visible. I also carry some spare wires/they dont take up much space.
