After spraying with PB Blaster for a few weeks and trying every little trick in the book I have not been able to get my track bar bolt (axle side) out. It is a Rubicon Express track bar and I am putting on a Poly Performance track bar kit. The damn bolt just turns and turns and won't come out. Any thoughts? I have had someone sit in the Jeep and turn the wheel to take the load off the bolt but no luck.

isn't there a nut on the back side with a tab welded to it?

I am at work and maybe I am thinking of a different bolt but if thats the case maybe the tab broke off

yah, your just gonna have to work it out. Not sure if you can tap it from the backside so you may have to use something like a prybar and block of wood and just pry it out.

it is hard to hit the nut in the back because the axle tube is in the way. last night I put a wrench on the nut and kept hitting the wrench. I just can't get enough leverage on the nut.

Try jacking up one side of the JK, the body part not the axles, on one side only. If you get it right it will release the grip on the bolt and it should fall out. Once you have gotten that far, you may also wan to begin the installation of the new track bar. ;)

I have also used one side jacked up then ratchet straps to pull the body back centered over the middle of the axle to remove track bar bolts.

Might do better to have someone push (back & forth) on the side of the jeep rather than simply turning the steering wheel back & forth...to relieve the tension on the bolt. Maybe lock some vice-grips onto the head and pull at the same time. You could also try jacking up the vehicle at the frame using a high-lift to see if that helps to free it up.

I had my wife push the bumper sideways. She slowly increased the pressure until the bolt unloaded and it just popped right out with no tools (didn't need vice grips to pull it out). Did the same thing putting the bolt back in.

If you look at which way the bolt is leaning (it will lean to one side or the other once the nut is off) you can tell which way to push the bumper to unload it.

I have pretty much tried all of this but what I'm thinking happened is the sleeve inside the RE track bar has seezed onto the bolt not allowing it to come out. My hypothesis is based upon the experience I had this weekend upgrading a TJ's long arm kit from RE to a tri-link link.

Try jacking up one side of the JK, the body part not the axles, on one side only. If you get it right it will release the grip on the bolt and it should fall out.
If that doesn't work do the opposite, jack up the other side so that there is a lot of tension on the bolt, then use an impact on it. The threads should grip the sides of the bracket and help it come out. Before it's all the way out, lower the jack to release the pressure a little.

It's been a while, but it's all coming back to me. I had to use a big assed crowbar to make it start then I did as Phil suggested by jacking the other side and doing the impact. If you don't have air, Milwaukee makes a nice little electric one.
