Hey All!

I really want to get and install the MyGig radio/nav/sirius radio.

I was wondering besides buying the U connect and Satellite radio if there is anything else I need to buy (besides the unit itself)?

Is this as easy as, basically pulling out the basic radio cd/mp3 unit and plugging in the MyGig?

I found a few nice ones with and without Nav on eBay.(REN/RER)

Any info will really help... thank you guys!

( you can be technical, this isnt my first radio radio) :grinpimp:

IMO the My Gig is the biggest piece of junk to put in a Jeep.
It is a computer and they do not do well with dirt and water.
I don't know about you but I wheel alot in dirt, rain and without doors and top.
We have them come into the shop daily for updates, flashes and replacements.
I ordered my Jeep and definately made sure it would not have My Gig.
As far as u-connect, buy a good earpiece and you are good to go.
Ask yourself why they don't offer u-connect in Wranglers and convertables.
It's because with the top down it is basically useless.
I am sure I will get flamed for this.
Flame on.:thefinger:

Haha. I understand where you are comming from! I am just use to a Screen and system, which I had it all the other cars I have owned, the Jeep will be a little harder to do a system in. It seemed that the MyGig would be usefull to me, but I understand that if the Doors or Top is off, the uConnect would be hard to use. I really do not need the uConnect part, going more for GPS and Satellite radio.

Going from a system built for clarity and sound quality to the Jeep basic stock system is such a difference. I NEED LOUD MUSIC!!

If you want loud, then get a separate deck and amplifier(s). I have the Mygig in mine, stock and it sucks. I have a great system in my Ford, and it rocks. All aftermarket in that one.

Your money would be better spent buying new gear is you want loud AND clear...:bounce:

Guess I will somehow upgrade the speakers and run component's in the front and rear. The hardest part will be finding a good spot to hide the Amp's. I have a set of Polk Audio Db's component's sitting around here, they sound amazing. I have them in my Dakota (front and rear) wired to a MTX 4-Channel Amp.

I've got to say, I upgraded from the single disc to the MyGig. I went this route, for the simple fact that it was easy and wouldn't require anything custom. Just pull out the old radio, run the mic for the Uconnect (guess what if your top is off, and you're doing 65 on the highway with no doors, a headset isn't going to sound much better), plug in your Sirius antenna, the one from the single disc works the same. All I had to add was the GPS antenna. Plug it all in and you're set. I also upgraded my speakers before the mygig swap and I think it sounds very good. The only thing it's short on is bass and I'll probably fix that at some point with a PDX5 and a JL audio stealthbox, but for now I really like it as is.

Thats more or less what I Was thinking, the simple route. I willl definitly have to upgrade the speakers, i'll have to find the adapters for the dash tweeters. as long as its plug and play basically, i 'll more than likely go the MyGig route.. unless I feel like doing some custom stuff :)
