Morimoto Mopar LED Fog Lights - Review and Impressions.

A long while back I threw some 3" 4 diode LED spots in the fog openings on my steel bumper. Although they were okay, I couldn't use them on road and they pretty much sucked in rain and fog. (aka dust in AZ :D) I have been looking at everything from the Vision X to the DOT Rigids to the Quadratec to the KC and Truck Lite fog options to replace those cute little glare-o-matic spots.

Since I already have the Morimoto Sealed7 HID projector headlights and I have a great relationship with Matt (owner) of TRS and he took care of me, I went this route.

So far, I am very impressed!

Initial impression, they are very attractive. Kind of high tech looking, clean, and well built. The housing is aluminum and substantial. The bracketry is polycarbonate and has an OE quality adjuster for easy height adjustability. The lenses are also polycarbonate and at first glance they almost seemed like glass. The output is very good and the cutoff is exactly what a fog should be, tight and straight. These are equipped with Qty.3 Luxeon-T diodes at 3W each so 9W output equalling 1200 raw lumens per side.

The color temp is in the 5k realm, so they match my headlights and the Baja Designs lighting I am switching over to which makes me very happy. I am over the blue hue of all of these 6k and above offroad LED lights.

So, here are some initial pre-install pictures. More pictures of aimed output and comparison to the Sealed7 and Baja Designs will be coming sometime in the next week or two.

I got a chance to install these last night and I am impressed with the overall package. The H16 to 9006 adapters made install a snap. I had to enlarge the mounting holes because JCR uses 1/4-20 studs for a mounting point.

Mounted.

What these replaced.

The one thing to note is that these were 100% flicker free without any additional isolation or wiring. That is very nice! More pictures of output coming.
