Curious what people are doing for insurance, are you telling your insurance company your JK is modified? are you paying for extra insurance for all your goodies? I'm getting to the point where I am afraid if something happened to my Jeep my insurance wouldn't cover all the modifications and if I should take out another policy just for extras.

I have GEICO and my modifications are covered as long as I report them. I have never had an increase in my premium after I reported them so I keep on adding the major ones

I have Lib Mutual. I put $15k "customization" coverage on the JK. Pretty steep increase, like $450. On my previous rig I carried $10k and it wasn't very much at all. $15k doesn't cover everything, but would be enough to build a replacement if the thing was totaled or stolen, etc.

Just be careful with Geico and what mods you tell them about.
I have a lot of family that work for Geico locally and they said DO NOT MENTION THAT YOU HAVE A WINCH (if you have one).

If you have an accident and the vehicle has a winch on it, they can drop you since they consider a winch to be a "commercial use" and not covered.

Stupid rule, but it does happen and my family has seen it unfortunately.

And Geico always asks if there is a "modified suspension" on 4 wheel drive vehicles.
My Jeep's suspension is bone stock. :thefinger:

"modified suspension" = higher risk = more $$$

I have my Jeep insured for an additional $20K over the stock rubicon. I have about $18K in it, and doing all my own labor.
I sent them a spreadsheet with everything on my Jeep, plus my costs.

The underwriters basically came back to me that they insured my rig for $60K and it has a clause in it for modifications and that I am allowed to wheel it, just not on timed events.

I have Allstate, and yes my insurance did go up. About $14 per month, worth the piece of mind.

My insurance agent is well aware of my jeep and the mods and the cost behind them. I've even had them talk to an underwriter to see if I needed to purchase additional coverage to cover what has been done to the jeep. As long as I can prove it was on the vehicle and show receipts, they will cover it without question and I didnt have to pay additional

Maryland covers up to 3k in custom parts and you do not have to report them prior or pay more.

The irony of this thread!! I just got a letter from GEICO saying they were not going to renew the insurance on the Jeep in July. Better to know now as I had been debating about switching Insurance companies.

Same here. As long as I can provide evidence that I paid for the upgrades, State farm will replace it all.
