Meet Rex

TnT Customs out of Cheyenne has been building my Jeep, (they named Rex). Three goals: a) drive highway speeds and handle well, b) Rock Crawl, c) be able to go fast on two track (off)roads.

Here is a "tour of Rex"

First meet the real Rex. My kids gave him to me. I don't know exactly where he picked up the stick.

Next notice the Aluminum front winch bumper with the hoop. That is a Warn 9500XP in there.

The suspension is TnT's Y-Link in the front and a three link in the rear. It has about a 4" lift. Notice that there isn't a bunch of mounts hanging down.

The Front and Rear Shock systems are Off Road Evolutions Double throw downs. TnT modified them to get the ride height lower, and to tune in the ride. These things are really good. Very smooth ride. Holds the road well too. Alos notice the PSC hydro assist pump.

Inside of this rear aluminum winch bumper is a warn winch and ORE's cantilever double throw down system. Lots of stuff to fit into that little space.

Wow man, excellent build.

I've always sorta wondered about this rig after seeing it around on pics from EJS and stuff. That is one bad rig...bet its a ton of fun. That b-pillar mod is pretty slick stuff. If I were a 4 door guy, this would sure be some great inspiration for my build. Love the custom fenders in the rear too, looks awesome.
Every time I make a big, thought out, build plan I always end up finding a rig that is very much like it before I get a chance to start on my own build. It is one of those things where you immediately have an immense amount of respect for the owner, because they have much of the same taste as yourself. REX is that rig.

Can we get some more pics of how they/you fit the winch in there with the EVO-lever? How do you feel about the stock gas tank?
BADASSS RIG !! Really like the yellow cage ! Ive been contemplated doing safety orange cage(might sound crazy to some:thefinger:).... the contrast against the rescue green looks killer! Good job!

That worthless bump goes the wrong way. Out it goes.

Then make some mounts and put the winch in:

Then a little cover and bedliner

You can see the "scaffold" for the lever system in this pic

With TnT magic, they got it done. Actually they pretty much changed all the EVO mounts, relocated them, adjusted the length of the arms. The EVO Lever is set up for 6" lift. I wanted to keep the COG down, so it took a lot of work.

Regarding the gas tank, it irritates me. Breakover was an issue--no more though--- With a 4" lift and running 43's my breakover is good. A 4" lift on 41's sucked.

So, I need to run more trails. I'll be up at Jeep Camp next week with Rex doing Boulders. If my belly is too low, even with my 43's, then a gas tank project might be in order. getting it up and out of the way would be good.

I need to run more trails.

Thanks for all the compliments. The credit really goes to Bob at TnT. He listens to what I want to do, then makes it happen. He guides me too!:D

I really like the TnT y links up front i have seen pictures of them before but they are not on their web site. Could you snap a few pics of the y links for me? I'm interested in how they mount up on the crossmember. Is it a replacement crossmemeber or do you use the factory one? Thanks for any pics you can send and your Jeep is just SICK!!!!!

Here you go. The first picture is REX. The second pic is the TnT Rig. Mine has the same set-up

These Y-links mount to a TnT replacement crossmember, the mounts come set up on it.

Rex is has been the final testing stage of the Y-Link system. I tried to beat the snot out of it and it held up (for example I slammed straight up Rocker Knocker in Pritchett once I worked my nerve up). They have done a couple other rigs, and are now offering it commercially. Having had and broken previous suspensions, I like this TnT stuff. They got it "pat proof" which means it ought to be tough for just about any rig. Bob (the TnT owner/Guru/Boss) says the website upgrades are coming soon. Call Rod at TnT to learn more.

Thank you sir, those are just what I've been looking for.
No problemo!
Here is a rough video showing more of the rear EVO Double Throwdown Lever system stuffed into the back of Rex.

Here is crude video of the front EVO Double Throw Down. This works great. TnT modified the placement of the mounts on the axle and the position of the shocks and reservoirs, but it is still the EVO system.

Very nice Rig!
Purpose built and built well. Hats off. One really wicked JKU. I am not worthy.;)

Thx. It does pretty well. We still have work to do on it. In another month or so, I'll post some pics.

Without doubt one of the best JK builds I've seen to date! While the aspirations for my Jeep are much less extreme, I definitely want to put the Jeep on a diet (compared to current stock status).
Got pics of that front sway bar re-location?

Pat, my friend your rig looks badass! Great build!! Larry
UM... AWESOME! yes caps and yes awesome! dont know how i missed it! how do the sway bar relocation brackets work? if they work as good as they look then i am sold haha
Looks to me that they had to heavily modify the front body mounts. This is what I was looking at doing to move mine out of the way.

Killer set up. A lot of things well thought out.
