Not to second guess....BFG 285's are just a tad taller then the OEM 255's, and still shy of 33" by a miniscule fraction...no rub a dub dub here
There are a few people running cragar 17's, you can't go wrong with steal wheels...nice and cheap and get the job done.I have stock 255/75R17's and I was wondering how big of a tire size I can go with out putting a lift. Remind you though I am REALLY new at all this.
I noticed everyone talks about craiger rims but no one seems to be running on 17's.
Is there a reason for that? I would like to replace my stock rims with one from craiger and get the same size.
Any input, opinions what have you is greatly appreciated.
thanks.
I'm running the 285/70/17 BFG KM2's, and they are just shy of 33"...they fit perfectly with no lift needed. Not to second guess....
But the BFG MTZ in 285/75r16 as measured on a 8 inch wide rime comes out to almost exacly 33.12 inches when at 28PSI. And just a bit over 11.5 inches across.
Just for what its worth
Sigh............that's what I've been saying....one more time..........I have BFG KM2's, size 285x70x17 mounted on stock 17" OEM/MOPAR/Rubicon/MOAB or whatever you would like to call the 17" factory/stock wheels, with NO LIFT and NO PROBLEMAS!:shaking:Another question, Can you run 285/70/17 on the stock wheels with no lift?

No not really with the 285's... unless you have an auto then maybe a little bit harder.3 questions.
by going with 285x70x17's, do you notice the jeep work harder at highway speeds?
does the speedometer still read correctly?
will they void the warranty?
