I want to change over to Amsoil and they recommend the synchromesh 5w-30 I was wondering if it would be ok to use the 75w-90 manual transmission&transaxle gear lube. Has anybody used this?

No experience with the amsoil but I did do pennzoil synchromesh without issue. I went 75w-90 (if I remember right) for the diffs but didn't use the same fluid from the trans.


Good luck with your search for Amsoil experience, plenty of people running it whenever an oil thread pops up.

i have always run the Amsoil Syncromesh in the manual trans and 75w-140 Severe Gear in the diffs as i pull a pop-up frequently. I would stick with a Syncromesh fluid only for the trans.

I used Redline MTL.

Technically, you're supposed to use an oil that conforms to Chrysler's material spec (can't remember the number). I guess some oils have stuff in it that can harm the brass synchros in the tranny.

Amsoil Syncromesh should be okay as well from what I've read.
