Congrats on your new ride!!! You are gonna love it!

I am an "auto" guy- I would love to do a auto vs stick rock crawl challenge. I already have a couple of spots picked out for it! (Jack Hammer will be the first one)

Dont get me wrong- I have nothing against the stick- I know alot guys prefer it- my last Jeep was a stick and went just about everywhere.

You are gonna love the Rubi! Did I already say that?:thefinger::bounce:

Woot Rubi is the way to go ,just lots of 4 low and be slow, you will go everywhere, just take a trail close by and it will come back to you, like riding a bike . I got a 4 door Rubi too but auto,i 4 low and slow with braking so i dont smash things, works for me.:grinpimp:

I am just wondering how much clutch will be used while crawling along? Also, the whole dont shift in water thing... what happens if I stall or I do need to reverse out?
Trust me,just hit the closes trail and just play around, try the 4 low thing and a big rock or log or car:bounce:,just go wheeling, look up the near buy jeep guys and get out there ,will come to you very fast:D,not sure on the water thing, auto here, sorry

For rocks you will find that the lower your gearing the better. With high gears clutches get burned up really fast. Can't tell you about mud, i hate mud.

You should hardly use the clutch at all in 4lo. The gearing is so low (especially in a Rubi), you can be on the brakes (lightly) and release the clutch without even touching the gas. If you are slipping the clutch to start off slower, you are in too high of a gear.

Have fun with it... We just finished a month long 11,000 mile road trip across the country and got to play a few times in the Nat'l forests and stuff. There was this one really rocky road that is where I think I really dialed into the Rubicon's T-case. I would either use 4-Hi and 2nd gear with the sway-bar disconnected or drop to 4-Lo and Lock the rear for tough hill climbs. It justs floats with that sway-bar disconnected and the power and traction is awesome.

Wow, that got really long really quick...Cliff notes: Nice Jeep, I like the 6-speed, you'll learn easily/quickly, forest roads are fun.

Jeremy - Mine is a YJ and all, but I wheel with the manual. I find myself heel-toeing a lot. Especially to start off, when on an obstacle. Once I'me moving, I left foot brake. Both of these are skills I picked up racing, but they work well on the rocks.

When you're in 1st with the Rubi xfer case you crawl at I think .4MPH so you don't even need to worry about shifting when crawling....you'll be surprised how easy it is with the 4:1!!!!!
