I was always under the impression.. the older YJ's, that used that vacuum actuator to engage the front axle.. has those spider gears spinning constantly while in 2wd..

think about it, no power from the TC (driveshaft not spinning) and the front right axle not connected to the pumpkin.. front left tire and axle spinning every mile you drive = spider gears going crazy all the time.

I would think you would be ok running a stock 32" tire in the front while in 2wd.. the ESP system wont like it one bit but it should work

Happy Saturday. Working. Sucks.

BB are you going to the pines tomorrow still?

I'm taking a ride to PA tomorrow to pick up a set of 35" BFG's.

Tried to order AEV Savagres yesterday from Quadratec and they won't have any in stock until mid-January. Blows.

Or maybe I'll just have to go with Pintlers.??

MID JANUARY :bawling: I couldnt wait that long, Just get the pintlers you know you want them  good luck with the bfg's, i still cant believe that deal

New Development.....I have a ford f-350 with a 2 car trailer. I can probably fit 3 wranglers on there if they are all 2 doors. We could save some money by loading up and going together. Plus, there is a winch on the trailer, so if anyone breaks anything, all we gotta do is get out of the woods...

(after last comment, I realized its the NJ barrens, not LI)

This message is really directed to BBrish (person who invited me). Let me know what you all think though !!

Taken directly from the LIOR website:

CB Radio
Seatbelts or harnesses
Full size spare tire
Jack that will lift your truck
Jackboard or foot
Lug Wrench
Tow hooks front and rear
Tow Strap (no metal hooks)
Battery hold-down
Fire extinguisher
Shovel
Tool Kit
Liability insurance

The trails we run are in the outback, far from any repair shop or parts store. There are some items we recommend you have with you. Only you know the condition of your four wheeler. Pack accordingly.
Spare Parts (hubs, ignition, belts, assorted hardware)
Tree saver strap & shackle
First Aid kit
Axe or saw
Air pump or compressor
Tire plug kit
Extra fluids (oil, water, gas, transfercase & differential fluids)
Winch
Survival kit
Lunch
Camera

Please be responsible. Always watch the truck in front and the truck behind you. Don't get lost. Leave the trails cleaner then you found them.

This has nothing to do with trail god or whatever the hell you're talking about. Wheelin' every month with soo many ******* clubs from the northeast and having to put up with situations like that at least every other month gets on people's nerves. We're here to help, we're not here to fix your shit when you don't carry a single thing. Yes, I've seen plenty of rigs run smaller tires when they blow one or break a bead, but they are trailered, not street driven. Good luck finding a tire shop open on a Saturday night to fix your shit when you don't even know where you are. Why risk it? Just bring what you are supposed to. Point of the matter is, you need to be prepared, period.

/end rant on stupid approaches to wheelin'...without even wheelin'...:smokin:

Not sure if your rant is directed towards me or not but i'll say this. I had no intentions on going wheeling before my rig was properly equipped. Others told me that I would be okay if I had "____" criteria added. I have camped a bunch of times, although it is different, there are some concepts that are similar. When you do something where there is no help around but yourself, you need to be prepared for the worst. Naturally, you cannot prepare for the worst when your wheeling, but I get the point. True, i've never been to a true off-roading place, I was simply asking questions, they weren't approaches on how to get around having the right stuff to go. The whole point of this forum, is so I can learn, and thats what im doing. Im not looking to **** anyone over.

It wasn't directed at you at all. You were skeptical on going because you didn't have a full sized spare, tools, CB, etc. Kudos for not wanting to go since you knew you didn't have the essentials needed. That's a GOOD thing! It's directed at the people who are trying to give advice stating that's it's ok not to be prepared and that other people will take up the slack should something go wrong.

I've never been to Pines Barrens and I never will, it's not my cup of tea when it comes to wheelin'. But, I have seen and heard of what happens over there and I didn't want someone going in there and have something bad happen to the rig and be SOL driving back home.

But, since others are getting bothered of my comments about being prepared, I'm done with this topic.

Joe, they all fit in the back of the JK? Your wheelin' days are over? I think you should keep the MT/Rs for wheelin' days.
